Would RecommendI am in the electronics business and have been for over 40 years. Over the years, I've installed several brands of cameras for my own use as well. Ecobee so far has proven to be the best value. The setup is so easy that a 6-year-old child could do it. Seriously!

Terribly Hard to Install
Would Not RecommendWe need to transport the camera between different vacation locations as a baby monitor. Each new place requires establishment of a “new home” in the ecobee system, and a full reset. The buttons atop the device don’t work well, so that’s frustratingly laborious. Then, they’ve begun forcing new home security trial periods with difficult cancellation procedures. Considering going back to Nest.

Would Not RecommendCamera is great. BUT…Why doesn’t ecobee offer Smart Review, self monitoring. Why the added cost after the initial 90 days? Cheaper camera systems offer this simple feature without additional costs. This would be a red flag to anyone asking me about ecobee security items. Why pay the extra cost. Lesson learned.

Love the Eco+ feature these enable
Would RecommendI love then whenever I leave a window or door open for more than 5 minutes my AC or Heat will go off to save energy. It helped a lot. I don’t need to go turn it off or ask Siri to turn it off, it just does. Plus the security of knowing what’s open before I leave is a life saver. I’ve saved a good 10-15% off my bill with just these and the Thermostat Premium.

Unnecessary person detection
Would Not RecommendI have set my camera sensitivity to lowest possible. Still it gives me person detection when there is no one in the zone selected. For some reason it detects one of my kitchen appliances as a person and notifies every couple of minutes. Person detection should be more refined and realistic.

Unusable door and window sensor
Would Not RecommendI had originally purchased the window and door sensor to go along with my Ecobee thermostat to enable the function to disable heating and cooling if the windows/doors were open. That function DOES NOT WORK within the app. I tried multiple times to resolve the issue with no luck. Also once they were added I was automatically enrolled in the security monitoring for 60 days free. I did not ask for this and do not want this. But there is no way to remove it from the app and so I'm just waitin...

Good sensor for its job
Would RecommendI’ve used ecobee thermostat for a few years. The add on for door sensors are a great addition. Keep in mind that the sensors cannot be separated too much (1/2 inch max) or else you keep getting an open door/window alert. So far I haven’t had any issues. The funny thing is even with the proper installation, somehow it triggers a false open door/window. Look at the help videos as well.

Would RecommendUsing Ecobee for almost 2+ years and their recent new software updates making a lot of difference from a Thermostat to Arming the home with their door sensors. Keep your engineering innovations going and add more new features through other new relevant sensors where it maybe required for people to take advantage with the ecobee smart thermostat and as an IoT.
