I live in South Africa and its difficult to buy directly. Also difficult to register on your app with a SA address. Please would you amend your app.to make provision for other countries as well.

Ecobee Door & Window Smart Sensors

Great addition to your Ecobee environment. Easy to install and they alert quickly when a door or window is opened. Great features packed product. Can be easily added to your Apple HomeKit setup. Just remember as the instructions state to make sure you know exactly where you are placing them and how they will work when opening or closing a window or door before you pull the cover off the two sided mounting tape and mount them.

It never stays connected

I’ve had this camera a little over a year now, and I never stays connected. I’ve had issues with the image freezing, the camera going out and now the camera disconnects but the sound is still on. I use it as a baby monitor and when I wake up to check my baby, I am constantly having to reboot the app. I’m done with this thing and getting something better

It works!!!!

We’ve had this product for a few weeks and we are very happy with the units that we set up.

Power plug...

Having its own proprietary plug makes instalation a bit challenging. It would be nice is future updates included a USBC plug to allow you to use a shorter or longer cable than be limited to the one provided. This is a major issue as you place these camera around your house.

Not a great camera

This is not a great camera. First off, the base it connects to does not securely fit into place, it has a weak magnet that kind of holds it in place. Next, it constantly gave me motion notifications as the sunlight moved across the room. So I unplugged it and only use it when going out of town. Not great.

Great camera, if a bit too sensitive

Very easy to connect this camera to the ecobee system and it's an essential part of the ecobee home security system. The video quality is excellent and the camera's ability to track the source of any motion is outstanding. That said, you have to be very careful about camera placement because it's quite sensitive and prone to misreading changes in light conditions as actuall motion ( headlights if a car passing passing by, lights in the house coming on in the evening etc). False claim of motion sensing

Ecobee claims that this sensor detects motion and temperature in addition to door open/close. That is false, or mine is broken. There is zero motion detection and I have tested multiple times. Only detects door open/close. And I don't see any sort of indication about the temperature at the sensor.

Smart Camera use when not at home

Use it when I am away from home, use as a babysitter for my dog

Only one problem I notice it’s a little slow loading live pictures when you’re out of state

Aftermarket costs are scary

Great products and easy to install but the aftermarket costs for items that are included with other competitors is making your sensor and cameras cost prohibitive. Awareness alarms and pic and video retrieval should not be part of your monthly/years maintenance fees.

Great Feature

They work very well. For me it took a while to get used to keeping the doors closed all the time. After we got our A/C replaced keeping the doors closed was a necessity. We're building towards a decent security system. Learning all the time.

Autopilot still not working for me

One of the big selling points for me is that I do NOT want video recordings happening when I am home and when the system is not armed. This is supposed to be part of Autopilot. I’ve spent some time with support, but still cannot figure this out. It’s def recording anytime someone is in the room which is a privacy problem for me. Have the camera turned off and should prob return it.

Pufchased, then suddenly required a smart security

I would not recommend ecobee door and window sensors. The company began requiring the a subscription service one year after I purchased. There was never a clue from Ecobee that they would start charging if you only wanted to use the open door detection to turn off the hvac. I never intended to buy this to use as security as I already have a fully monitored security system. Shame on you Ecobee!

Devices work as intended

This product performs as intended but you need a few of them to make a difference.

Monthly fee for sensors

I don’t think having door sensors should require a monthly/yearly fee. Ridiculous.

Ecobee Premium is the BEST

We had a Ecobee 3 Lite for 4 years but switched to the Ecobee Premium so we could get the Security System. We loved our 3 Lite but the Premium is by far the best Security System for the money. Plus all the other features like air quality and the Pause feature that turns off the HVAC system when the doors or windows are open. I highly recommend the Ecobee Premium!

Sensor range needs to be much better to compete

Amazing thermostat, it is really the best on the market. The sensors though don't carry very far and there needs to be some sort of repeater solution if they are stuck with this proprietary RF tech. It seems a decent solution for an apartment or condo. I don't feel 100% safe arming the system with sensors dropping out daily.
