too noisy

It operates properly, but the operation of the dead bolt is very loud. I purchased it about two weeks ago. Waiting to see if it gets louder as time goes on.

Just stopped working

The lock looks nice and works great when it works. We had it about three months and it just stopped working. One day my wife called me to tell me it randomly started moving it in and out and would not stop. (She was not using it and was watching TV at the time.) I told her how to remove the batteries. After placing the battery pack back in, it worked fine for about another week at which time it simply stopped working. I removed the batteries and reinsert them. Unreliable

I have had several issues with this lock that it’s just not worth the money. It doesn’t always lock or unlock and I regret buying this. Save your money!

I love these locks. They are easy to installand program. I had 5 smart code Kwikset locks on my previous home for years and opted to install the trusted brand for my new home when I moved.

Great Lock

I purchased a Schlage BE 365 about a year ago and had nothing but trouble. It would work about half the time. It was really a cheap design. I purchased this one after I had all I could stand. You can tell when you first use this lock it is much better quality. The heavy duty motor turns the lock great. Just wish I had purchased this one first. That’s why i am doing this review so you wont make the same mistake I did.

Simple to use

We bought this for our elderly mother who loses her keys. We were concerned that this may be to high tech for her to use. It wasn't. Push one button and it locks, push a few others and it opens. Very easy to use and it looks good. She commented on that right away. Fairly easy to install as well.

this lock has problems

I purchased 3 of the 913 locks about 5 years ago. They worked well. So when i purchased a new home I bought 5 new ones. Of the 5 when the batteries lasted only 1 month I contacted Kwikset . They sent replacement. It too ate batteries. Then two other keypads failed. Kwikset replaced them. Meanwhile I’m without deadbolts until new ones arrived! Now 1 1/2 years later I’ve had to remove the locks as they are no longer under warranty for electronic components. I purchased another brand, one I had ins...

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this lock back in Aug of 2020 for our new home. I have changed the battery every 1 1/2 months if I get that lucky. Yeah it will let you know when it’s time the lock will go crazy and will run till it’s dead or you take the batteries out. I will contact qwikset & see what they are willing to do or go buy a different brand

Secure and user friendly

Has an automatic lock feature that is great to help you feel secure knowing your door will always lock even if you forget. I like the keypad because each number has a separate button.

Easy to install. Works as it should. Do not know about long term, has only ben installed for two weeks. I replaced the hardware on three exterior doors with (2) key in knobs, (1) double deadbolt, (1) single deadbolt and (1) key in lever lockset. All keyed the same. Replace Kwickset locks that had been in use for 25+ years. All were easy install and the smart key is simple to change.

good replacement

I really didn’t get the one i wanted I wanted the one that had the app with the lock instead I ended up with the lock one by hand. It doesn’t have a night light so it’s hard to see at night. There was no help at the store so I had to pick it up by self and find it my self I guess that is why I ended with the wrong one.

Bad product

THis deadbolt worked great for the first 4 months, then sporadically would just stop working. Started replacing batteries often to avoid issues but it didnt help. Very disappointed in Kwikset since my previous keypad deadbolt was a different model of Kwikset and worked fine for years. I only replaced it because we installed a new door and wanted a fresh look. I will never buy another Kwikset product after the frustration this one has given me.

Great product

Bought this to replace an existing Quikset deadbolt lock. PROS: - PERFECT fit to existing holes. - Took all of 15 minutes to install. - Great quality, easy to program and operate. CONS: - Wish it didn't require you to remove 3 screws to replace the batteries. Older one had just a sliding panel. OVERALL: - GREAT lock. Highly recommended.

Battery life is short

I purchased this lock for my 8 year old to get in from school. However, the battery life is short. I have to change the battery at least every two weeks. Well, batteries are expensive. I am thinking about returning and purchasing a different and better brand.
