Great lock.

Great until..

The lock has been great, batteries do need to be replaced every 3-5 weeks but I thought fine, not worth complaining about because I bought it on sale. Well 6 months of use the lock became completely unresponsive. No typical warning of low battery and now I am locked out of the house. I should have just started with the Schlage locks multiple family members have used and had zero issue with and a 6 month battery life.

Constant beep/flash after 8 months

After 8 months, the unit suddenly started beeping constantly. I replaced the batteries, fully reset it, it will not stop beeping. I tried every diagnostic step listed on various websites and nothing has solved the issue. Yes, I can turn the sound off but as it beeps/blinks (every other second, for a second) the keypad doesn't work, so I have to get lucky and enter my code extremely fast, or take the battery pack out and stop using it.

Unit dies on occasion and seems to have warped

Multiple times we've had this unit become unresponsive, which is pretty inconvenient. After removing and reinserting the same batteries, it works fine. Today, however, the unit locked and then continually tried to keep locking. I had to get back into the house through another entrance and remove the battery pack. I cannot reinsert the batteries, though. Something in the lock seems to have warped. This is after less than a year of having it. Overall, a poor experience.

Strike Two!

I bought this lock 5 years ago and it worked great until the plastic gears inside wore out. I liked it enough to replace it with an identical lock. My front door gets very little use since we enter/exit through the garage most times but this second lock eats 4 AA batteries every 10 days. I've spent more on batteries than I did on this lock. Kwikset is sending me a replacement. Hoping the third lock is as good as lock #1 and not like lock #2!

It works

Follow the directions and things will go smoothly. DO NOT over tighten the small screws that hold the casing over the battery housing. Just make them snug. If they are too tight, the lock will not retract the whole way and you will not be able to open the door. Just practice a few times with the door open to be sure it’s working smoothly.

Very nice. Better than schlage where you need to turn a knob after pressung the code. Press your code and it unlocks. Simple.

Prone to malfunction

Purchased this lock to use on a short term rental. Unfortunately it is prone to malfunctioning and repeatedly tries to lock despite no issues with the installation.

Pros: Looks nice Cons: Drains batteries quickly The one thing I absolutely don't like about this lock is how delayed it is. It seems quicker to just use a key.

Easy to install, direction were great and the lock works great very smooth locking and unlocking with key as well if replacing a lock no need to re drill to attach to the door and looks great after installed

Finally installed and it won't stop trying to lock

Pros: Easy to install, Easy to Program, Easy to use Con: Keeps trying to autolock even after it is already locked until the batteries are dead

Not good design or dependable.

Only 2 years old and the electric motor burned out. Made weird noises when opening and closing a while before it died and became difficult to lock and unlock with the key when it did die. Also to change the battery and to program a new code was poorly thought out. It has a removable piece but doesn't allow access to anything. You have to take the whole back off to get to the batteries.

I cant get the keypad to actually light up when it is dark outside?
