Installation was straightforward and the deadbolt functioned well until this week, when the deadbolt would not engage and move when using the electronic lock button or and entry code. The device will make a low grinding sound, but nothing moves. Would Not RecommendThe lock/unlock direction finding in Step 5 does not work, despite following all troubleshooting instructions. The Kwikset YouTube installation video has a good outline of installation steps, but provides no information on troubleshooting the installation. Would Not RecommendI've had three of these. The lights on the keypad on the first one wouldn't light up at night for nothing. After several phone calls & hours on the phone they said it was defective and sent me a new one. I had the same problem on the second one but decided to deal with it since it wasn't often that I was coming home after dark. But just a few months after having it, it stopped working. Would Not RecommendAbsolute garbage, i would give zero stars if i could. Item did not work straight out of the box. Spent three hours trying to problem solve. Electronics and wiring on this thing are extremly poor quality and tempormental. Dont waste your time like i did and go with the much higher quality schalge keylock brand.

Not Reliable
Would Not RecommendI could not rely on this lock since it wouldn't automatically lock consistently. The battery life was not good and when locking/unlocking it was noisy. I ended up switching this lock with a Nest lock and I have not regretted the switch.

Died after 2 weeks
Would Not RecommendI purchased the lock on Labor Day weekend and installed it. I used Duracell batteries thinking it will last a couple of months. It was easy to install and everything worked fine. It started beeping at the two week mark, so I put in new Duracell batteries. It started beeping again in a few hours and the batteries were dead. Found out the lock is broken and needs to be replaced.

Battery life is so low
Would Not RecommendSince installation, 7 months ago I have had to replace the batteries 3 times. And access the battery pack is not easy. After talking with a few friends with smart locks that only replace batteries once a year or even every 2-3 years, I realized this one must be sucking the life out batteries.
