Space saver with serious design flaws

Once installed it was making funny noises -- turned out the magnetron was dangerously broken. It was fixed under warranty, but it was scary seeing just how badly burned it was. Pros: No need for a countertop microwave; serves as a 2nd oven; cooks well. Cons: The turntable does not turn on automatically with the microwave function. For the life of me I can't understand why you wouldn't...

Great microwave and oven

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I had one just like this but 12 yr older model that needed replacing, I thought it would fit in same hole but you can’t get trim kit anymore so had to redo my cabinets or I would have rated it 5 stars.

Very attractive appliance

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Loved the online installation instructions. The only issue I had was that because the door opens down, it interfered with the lower drawer on my cabinet. Luckily I am handy and was able to retrofit the cabinet so the microwave now looks completely built in. Overall, a really nice microwave/convection oven combo.

This allows me to have a second oven without having a “Double” oven which I would only use about twice a year. It has a larger capacity than a drawer microwave but sits in my island like I wanted. The matte black is amazingly modern and fresh! I definitely love the value and quality vs price of my Kitchenaide appliances.

How long should they last?

Did a kitchen rehab ~8+yrs ago and went w/ KitchenAid appliances including this microwave. Worked great until today when my son went to make popcorn and all heck broke loose. Sparks were flying and smoke was pouring out of the microwave. Not sure if this is an end of useful life issue or some other failure. Does not appear safe to use going forward.

microwave with convection
