Great Until it Breaks ... Fixing is a Chore

Now on our fourth tech visit to try and solve an inverter/magnetron issue (F1E5 code) and been without the unit for over six weeks. Multiple parts, multiple technicians. Wife and I started shopping for a new non-Kitchenaid unit that's how frustrating this is to nit-pick the troubleshooting. Quality of Kitchenaid is such that shouldn't be this hard for a unit that's only five years old.

Incredibly hard to maintain!

We installed this microwave as part of our kitchen remodel. The little appliance bulb burned out. You have to remove the whole oven from the cabinet to replace it. This is an INCREDIBLY poor design! We never would have bought Kitchen Aid had we known this.

For the price a manual would be nice.

When you go online to download the manual it is ONLY the installation guide. When you click on the quick start and other links it is NOT even the same convection microwave/ instructions. So disappointing!

Worst controls ever, why did I buy this?

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Even though I’m just now learning how to use the convection part, I love my microwave it is built-in, it has plenty of room, it works well, it has all kinds of settings that help me cook meals, warm up things, & experiment. I have used the convection part a couple of times and it’s amazing how evenly it cooks everything. So happy this was the model we decided on.

Not for Popcorn

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I cannot figure out how to cook popcorn in this microwave. Based on my google search, this appears to be a common problem with this model. Other than this, it's good for everything else I have tried.

Easy to use and com with many preset cook options

Faulty Sensor or Logic Board

Door open alert like other commenters here. Microwave will not turn on due to a faulty door sensor or logic board. There have been other problems too, but cycling the power fixed those issues. Not this time though. Was purchased with a new home construction Kitchen Aid appliance package. Between this and a faulty dishwasher door cycle light (washing/heat drying/finished), Kitchen Aid is proving to me it makes terrible kitchen appliances. Never again.

Weird door

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] It is a great microwave, except for the door which pulls down instead of swinging out. Our microwave is above the wall oven & its difficult for a short person like me to get things in and out of it.

Waited for months, but it was worth it!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We waited for 10 months for this microwave when we redid our kitchen. So far, I love it, it is so versatile and easy to use. Like all the cooking options. Makes meal prep so much easier and faster!

Convection Microwave

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We were so thrilled with our KitchenAid oven that when we were ready we ordered the convection microwave. The only and biggest negative is that not only was there no printed manual, there were no instructions online. So it has been trial and error, and although it has worked well, it would have been really helpful to know what was safe to do and/or not.

Nice functions but...

Full discolsure: I have the 30 inch model but do not see that size on the website. My microwave with convection is installed over my oven. I find the way the door opens down a little awkward (I'm 5'6") and it is difficult for me to reach into back if I am standing in front of the microwave. I can barely reach the back if I stand next to the open door but only the part nearest me. Also microwave is very difficult to clean, in part because the door opens down but also because the heating elemen...

Love the features!

The “reheat” feature has heated up everything from soup to full meals and they are all perfectly hot throughout but not over cooked. It senses the food and cooks as long as needed. The crisper function is amazing! Re-heated pizza comes out oven fresh in half the time. The steamer also uses a sensing function and it works perfectl...

Wonderful Microwave

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Purchased the KitchenAid Microwave with our complete set of KitchenAid appliances and were very pleased in how the convection oven really enhances the ability to speed up my process in cooking.

Make sure you have 220 install for it.

Wish it had better instructions on how to work everything.

Easy quick cooking options

Liked it so much in our last house had to get one for our downsizing house. Fast preheat for oven (unlike our full size oven) and also is microwave eliminates counter clutter. Use it ALL the time
