What Customers Are Saying
The Gerber Dime is a compact multi-tool with a sharp knife blade, useful package opener, and functional pliers and scissors. Many users praise its overall design, portability, and variety of features. However, some report quality issues with the pliers, scissors, and file. Despite these drawbacks, the majority of customers find the Dime to be a handy and affordable everyday carry tool for light-duty tasks.

I really wanted to love it, but just a poorly made product. As noted above, the painted file does nothing. On the plus, the box cutter works awesome. However, the build quality killed it for me. The knife blade pushed over and bent the stop when trimming some paper; making the blade useless. The final straw is one of the hold down screws sheared at some point, so now the left side is coming apart. BL, don't waste your money.

It’s what I wanted, but next time, instead of a near useless package opener, use that slot for a can opener.

great looks, great potential, poor quality
I want to like this multi-tool, the form factor is there, the tools are all good choices but they lack quality. The bad: My first issue is with the scissors, they are sturdy but can barely cut thin paper. the file is too short and the black coating, as good as it looks, makes it dull. the unpainted version may solve this issue. Knife came a little dull, but sharp enough and can be sharpened. The good: Though tools do not lock in place, they are solid. Knife shape is super strong. tweezers are ve...

A great little tool but far from robust enough. The scissors are well below Gerber standard in fact basically useless.

Dissapointed
Well let's just say not real impressed with the new multi-tool ( Dime ) I had the Clutch for a few years and loved it until it no longer closed properly. Wish there was some kind of repair warranty but no such luck. Today I purchased the Dime and have only just removed from packaging. Can already tell you just by the feel I regret the purchase, a far cry from the Clutch.

This rocks
I have had this tool since last summer and I use it all the time. I never leave the house without it. I mostly use the box opener and tweezers. I have had absolutely no problems with it. I got the black one and the paint is still on it despite me dropping it a couple of times. All around its a great little tool.

Just got the dime today and it’s a pretty good little multi tool for the price. I wouldnt take it camping or stuff like that but it’s nice to have In my pocket at all times. It’s handy small and cheap. The blade did come a bit dull but nothing to worrie about I gave it about six strikes on my sharpener and the blade was razor sharp. I would recommend this for EDC and as a little back up multi tool very happy with it thanks Gerber

This thing is trash
The siccors broke within the first month after cutting paper. The screwdriver broke and the file is to small. Buy a leatherman multi-tool

I've used the Gerber Dime for several months now. It is a huge upgrade from my mini Victorinox I used to keep on my keychain. The best feature is the retail package opener (awesome). The only thing I would like to change is to have a longer file so that it would function better as a finger nail file (but that is my personal preference).

Nice micro-tool, but scissors are the worst of all.

I was looking for a lightweight multi tool for hiking. The Dime seemed to be exactly what I was looking for @ 2 oz having a cutting blade, scissors, pliers, tweezers and a few other basic tools. The Dime has failed me in every way except being lightweight.. The knife is dull, when sharpened it loses its edge quickly. The scissors failed to cut mole skin or duct tape. The rod that stops the pliers from folding backwards failed while trying to straighten a bent aluminum tent stake. The tweezers do...

I like the general idea of the tool and have used it a few time with success. However, the files seem like a "concept" that never really saw the true light of day. The scoring or knurling of the cutting surfaces appears to be negated by the coating-there is just no "bite" to the cutting surface and they are rendered useless. Will I return it? only if I can know that the surfaces have been reviewed and fabricated correctly

Mr.
I am on my 3rd Dime the first one was great used it for multiple thing even cut a coat hanger for a project. Then I lost it, so I got my 2nd one expecting the same quality and strength but unfortunately it was not even close. With in a couple months the springs broke in it so the pliers where useless. I contacted Gerber they replaced it no charge which was great, however the replacement is worse than the one I sent back. none of the cutting tools will hold an edge. Consequently I will never buy ...

I have owned my Dime for over 5 years. There is hardly a day that goes by where it is not in my pocket (including with dress pants). I have read negative reviews about this product on this website, and the websites of several different big box stores. From my personal experience, and their comments here is what you must keep in mind: 1) You will not build a house or break down a motor with it. 2) The bottle opener takes a little getting used to. When I first started using it, it took me two trie...

Totally disappointed in this tool. I have had it for a month. I have used the knife and tweezers with no issue but last night I attempted to use the pliers and one of the tangs snapped off at the pivot point. Will be seeking a free replacement for this.
