What Customers Are Saying
The Gerber Dime is a compact multi-tool with a sharp knife blade, useful package opener, and functional pliers and scissors. Many users praise its overall design, portability, and variety of features. However, some report quality issues with the pliers, scissors, and file. Despite these drawbacks, the majority of customers find the Dime to be a handy and affordable everyday carry tool for light-duty tasks.

I really liked my dime until the pliers snapped on them. They didn't take much force to break at all. I expected more from Gerber than this flimsy piece of engineering.

On my second use of the Dime, the handles gave in, forcing the pliers to remain open, and forcing me to warranty the Dime. I used the Dime just to crimp a 16ga wire connection, I'm hoping it's just a defect, because I really like the size of the dime. My only other complaint is the bottle opener. I don't drink, but beside that it can get in the way of using the Dime. Hoping I won't have to seek fully returning the replacement.

I am on my 3rd Black Dime. I carry and use it daily. My only complaint is the retail package opener opens past it's designed stop i.e. instead of stopping in line with the body like the knife blade (180 degrees), the package opener actually goes past the stop to an approximate 200 degrees. The opener then becomes difficult to use. Great idea and concept. Just needs to be beefed up.

Don't buy it for the pliers.
Went to cut some fishing line with the 'wire cutters' but that was met with failure, the knife became the primary choice. After that I went to crimp some split shot onto the fishing line, not with much force mind you and the one handle over rotated rendering the pliers useless. Enough said.

Very happy with the tool until the main cutting blade over extends and does not have its usual "springiness". It is about 1 year old and is not my daily carry! I am in the process of sending it in for warranty work. Other than that it is a GREAT tool.

Not bad, not great
Good for the key chain. Knife is a good slicer with a nice belly. Screw drivers are functional. I really like the spring on the pliers. However, the file is crap. It's first, too small to be really useful, and second, it barely works. It might be due to the black coating clogging up the groves. I'll probably have to take a Dremel to it to remove the coating. Coating is already wearing off - wish I got the one without it. Plies are not the strongest, but are probably sufficient for this type of t...

Fantastic looking and even greater when it comes to practicality and usefulness.... the quality of the multi tool is obvious to anyone holding one in their hand or opening it up ; The hefty weight and the strong spring assist of the pliers are both good signs of high quality. I havent put it down yet, lol, I am still admiring and playing with it

Be warned?? It's upgraded and masterfully engineered
Anyways the updated it an the pliers are spectacular and with the perfect minimalistic size the are extremely accurate. Plus there are basically two extra tools in the pliers mouth where there is an unclosed serrated bar stretch as well as an unclosed oval stretch with a larger size serration fit to it. Also there is an added miniature hook knife and the design of the regular knife is no so regular, it's incredibly sharp like a mini chefs blade. It is like a little razor blade but it is not so t...

It will not keal...this tool is a good idea, a small pocket tool that you can throw in your pocket and forget about it until you need it but when you do need it don't expect to do much with the pliers, it WILL break, i am sending in my 3rd one for warranty service due to the pliers breaking, why do i torture myself and keep sending it in? because as i stated it is a nice tool but the pliers could have been made of a stronger material.

I really like mine, nothing has broke. For the price/size I think it's a grate tool. People are expecting it to work to the same standards as there full size tools and thats just not a realistic exception from something thats the size of your thumb.

Does what i need it to do and holds up to everyday tasks. I wish the pliers were a little thicker other than that its a great product.

It's ok
I've used this tool for just about 6 months. Most of tools work well. I just had one of the locking arms fail for the pliers, I used this component most out of all the tools. I most likely will just use the Leatherman PS4 I have for small pliers. Pros *Knives are of decent quality, had no issues with keeping them sharp. *Electricians knife is handy for so many things. *Pliers are of decent quality, especially useful for manipulating small parts Cons *Scissor blades do not line up well enough to ...

Great potential. I love having the screwdrivers, pliers and bottle opener in such a small and handy package. Two small issues can be easily fixed and make the tool more effective and easy to use. Gerber: Give us a bigger divot around the nail nick of the package opening blade. This will make the tool much easier to deploy, as in changing it from almost useless to super handy. Easy fix, BIG improvement. Next, don't polish the tip of the small/philips screwdriver so much. It's somewhat rounded and...

Got one for my wife and loved the form factor so bought one for myself. The handle sprung while using the pliers so the pliers no longer work. Being undeterred I bought another one. This time I used the package blade to open a cardboard box and it wouldn't fold back in afterward. Worse, the the knife is now also not folding back completely. Love the concept but clearly a black eye for Gerber. I asked Gerber to prove to me that this was some strange coincidence but unless that happens I will neve...

one of the most disappointing tools I've ever bought! Wanted a small tool to replace my small swiss army knife. Boy was I WRONG! First used the plyers on a cheep big lots Christmas tree and bent my tool so it would not close and all other parts are cheep...I'll never buy another Gerber product...used to hold them in high regard but I will now spread the word!
