I bought this unit last year to run my new 24 ft. concessions trailer G-Dub's Grub which I opened 2 weeks ago. I have worked 2 large events with 20 hrs on meter. It runs the 30 amp service easily-- lights, water heater, water pump, fridge etc. All filters, oil drain, spark plug easy to get to, which is a big reason why I bought it. THE GENERAC 17500 IS A BEAST OF A MACHINE, WELL BUILT. THE FEATURES ARE EASY TO ACCESS AND THE ENGINE IS STRONG SOUNDING. THE MACHINE IS EASY SERVICE FROM BATTERY TO OIL CHANGE. THIS MACHINE WELL BE AROUND FOR YEARS.

No Alternator but great power

This generator has great power runs well when it's on but every day you have to jump start it because there isn't a alternator that charges the battery when it's on. It's a hassle trying to always make sure the battery has enough juice to start the generator. If not your out of luck.

I have owned Generac generators since 1999. Have had great service and reliability. I live in Florida and we deal with storms regularly. With my wife retired and a disabled grandson at home, I need a unit that will power the whole house. If I have to go to work during storm recovery, my wife only has to worry about putting gas in the generator to have comfort. It starts with a push of a button! This generator is really nice and powerfull.

Live in northern Florida, city of Ocala out in horse country and our power grid goes down at least once a month and we also are affected by hurricanes. This generator will power your whole house if required, starts easy, runs quiet for its size. It's real heavy to move around but manageable, I am using the 30A and 50A outlets in tandem to feed my single home electrical panel because the single 50A only gives you 12KW of usable power.

great machine

This is a great machine. I purchased it to run my whole house in the event I need it. It is portable and large and heavy. I bought a small trailer to mount the generator onto for easily moving around, hook it to my truck or ATV. Trailer has room for the big power cord and other extension cords. I purchase a bigger interstate battery to start it. I also use the battery for other things.

Purchased this generator in the fall of 2017 after a 4 day power outage. I haven't actually used it yet during a power outage, but have no doubts that it will meet my needs. Was able to get an outstanding deal on a slightly used, 0.4 hrs., 15000e.

I wired the generator up to the house and tested it out. Ran everything including a 3.5 ton AC. Now ready for the inevitable South Florida Hurricanes. Unit started right up after I replaced a 4 year old battery that was completely dead. One of my best purchases.

Very disappointed

I have owned this generator approximately five years, it only has 60 hrs on it. It has been in auth shop twice and has had four new fuel pumps. Also new voltage regulator It has now blown the fuse behind the control panel and blows another as soon as installed?? I seldom post negative comments on products. In fact this is my first!!!! Very disappointed!!!

Great Generator

I love this generator run the whole house no problem with just a little common sense just remember you can’t have a central air, take a shower with a well pump and electric hot water heater and cook at the same time.

Great job, but heavy and loud

I have used one of these for a back up generator for my house for 5 years and it does a great job, but I have recently purchased and installed a stand by unit 22kw which is awesome., There are a few things that you need to know before purchasing this unit, it is heavy and I have to use a tractor to haul it from my storage shed to the meter to hook it up, also if it is raining I have to wait until the rain slows down because the connections are open to the elements. the only other thing that push...

Great generator

This is my first generator, but we moved to a rural area where the power goes out regularly so we needed an backup generator. I was thrilled to be able to find a portable generator this size, because we can't afford a standby generator. I was so impressed with this generator when it arrived. It was so easy to set up and came with an extra air filter, oil filter, and so on. Very nice tough. I feel much better know we'll have heat and water if we lose power this winter!

A "POWERHOUSE" generator

This generator is an excellent choice for backup electricity, once outages take place. I live in Florida, home of the hurricanes and when the power is gone, homes inside become 88-92 degrees warm. Have owned a 7,000 exl by Generac for years and never a single problem. Made the decision to purchase this GP17,500 watt beast. Very impressed with the quality of this unit. Fired up without the choke on first start out of the box! Have only ran for an hour doing a break in, so haven't put a load on it yet, but I can tell the Beast is ready! Very dependable unit

I purchased this in 2005 because of the hurricane Wilma, I live in Pompano Bch. FL. It has set in the garage for 12 years . I started it last year to check it and put it back. Saved by Generac 17,000 Watt generator

Bought the biggest of all, the 17,000 Watt generator some years ago, and never used it until now. Living in Florida, you never know, when you need it, and now with Hurricane Irma, we lost power for several days. Backfeed my house at the panel, and supplied power to all my A/C untis (3 unit total) exterior lighting, etc, since we were the only house among 90 inour neighborhood, with full power, A/C, lights, etc. Unit started right away, and ran for 5 days 24/7. I would change nothing about this system

I bought this system to replace a 5000watt coleman unit. The coleman treated me well but this guy is incredible. I should should have purchase this a long time ago. It got our farm through 3 days without power in comfort. no having to remember what pump or appliance is connected. It does like gasoline so make sure you have plenty.
