I have been waiting for someone to come out with a generator large enough to have “whole house” capabilities in a portable configuration. I am a self-employed semi-retired electrician and have installed a number of generators, but this one is by far the biggest and best. Dependability

My home is the go to home for severe weather and in Louisiana we have our fair share. I needed a generator that would provide all the power I need that was dependable from a company that I knew I could depend on. This GP17500E does that.

This generator is loaded with great features

I haven’t had a chance to use it yet, but it is comforting to know it is there when I need it. Electric start is a great feature. I also purchased and added handles and a GenTent for it.

Should do what it is designed to do

It was a gift from a son-in-law. I have started it but have not used it as we are still trying to get our house wired for it. One complaint was that the manual with it was not very good so I had to down load one from the web site. Also it arrived without the axle but when I called Generac they shipped one right away.Since it is so heavy I had to get help in installing the wheels and axle. This is my 2nd GP17500E

My 1st one died on me within 200hrs. I had it repaired through the warranty. It lasted for 1400hrs and died completely. The second one died at 115hr...this time the stepping motor. Not a generator to rely on.

The big beast GP17500E

Haven't had a chance to run the house with it yet, but I'm sure it will make light work of it with no problem! The overall quality and appearance of this machine is very well put together. The only issue I had is that it took over 4 months to get it...I'm guessing it's probably production run intervals.

Watch Out!

While this generator is exceptionally powerful and reliable it is dangerous to use as it is too heavy to move. Moving it just once about destroyed my spine. IT NEEDS WHEELS AND YOU CAN'T GET THEM!!!

Great Generator

This is a great unit. I live in a colder climate in a home with base board electric heat. The unit handles the house load well. I had no problem with the 2 ton heat pump/air conditioner. Assembly was easy enough, but instructions on wheel assembly could be improved with larger diagram. This unit is heavy. Great improvement over my previous 5000 watt gen.

Ran under load for first time today. It ran like a Rolls Royce and I only had part of my system turned on. I am confident it will handle all the load we need it to handle for our 2600 sq. ft. No worries about utility power failure anymore.

Great to run a home

We purchased this unit for Hurricane season. Low and behold we needed it this year. This unit ran our house, all electric, 1900 sqft, with no issues. We ran on this generator for 4+ weeks until power was restored. We were hit again with another hurricane a few weeks later and had to crank up the unit again for a week or so. Propane not allowed

I have this generator going on 3 yrs. I live in an HOA community that would not allow in ground or above ground tanks. This was my solution i have used it once and it runs my entire home..( yes that included my A/C) I told a friend about this and he bought one for is home. I highly recommend

Gas tank leak right out of the box. As soon as I poured gas into the tank it start running out.

Out of failure. As soon as I pour gas into the gas tank it start to run out onto the battery, the leak is next to the shut off valve. I immediately customer service @ 888 436 3722 to report the issue the gas tank was leaking above the battery. rep wanted to know if the tank was crack I told her I did not know. Good heavy weight product

I purchased this generator to replace one that i had for 20 years. So far i have used this one twice. Once for two hours and the second time for 13 hours. Easy to start and runs great. Just wish iy was a little quieter. But that is not a negative. If this one last as long as my last one i will not live to see its end. Generac 17500 is great but owner’s manual poorly written

The good: Powerful generator provides enough amperage for entire 2300 sq ft house including a/c and 2 electric waters heaters. The bad: Owner’s manual - parts list, item descriptions and assembly descriptions do not match what comes out of the parts bag. C’mon Generac - you can do better! Great Generator!

This Generator is a great machine, enough power for the entire house, i live in Florida and you have to be ready for hurricane season.

Great stand by generator.

I bought this unit as a whole house backup generator. It has not let us down. Last year while camping got a text from the power company saying power was out at the house. We came home and I fired the genny and it ran very well with the central ac and refrigerator and freezer all running at the same time. Power was restored about 5 hours later. If not for the backup we would have lost over a thousand dollars worth of food.

Great for whole house use after tornado

I just survived a devastating tornado in Chattanooga in April 2020. I actually bought this generator in 2013 for emergencies but had not used it much until now. Great Features and Value, but lacking in Documentation

I really think you did a good job designing this product. The Maintenance will be quite easy based on how it;s designed. I really like that the Oil Filter, & Air Filters are VERY EASY to access. Changing Oil with the attached discharge hose will be Easy & Clean. That being said, I really don't understand what you provide such useless Documentation.
