Value but no service available, for 15k and 17.5 k unnits

Multiple electrical problems internally and on panel. Engine wont run on my 17.5k unit and service tech refuses to take product due to poor Generac service. Voltage regular on 15k unit caught on fire and ruined the whole electrical panel.

Bottom of box and pallet was taped to pallet. I signed off, delivery driver drove off. 3 hours later, at 6:30 pm I took off the tape to see that somewhere in the process the tape was used to cover up a number of big holes and the powder coated frame was scraped up in 5 places. The battery tray flange was bent. Forklift damage I assume. I'm asking retailer to contact Generac and get me touch up paint to avoid rust... and a return.... I'm in the process of breaking it in. BEST ON THE MARKET

i have owned this for a few years now. have 93 hrs. on it does a wonderful job when needed. the only thing is the battery for electric start had to replace it (sits more then it runs). when the power goes off nice to have this. we lose power at least once a week ( BAD electric company).BUY Generac if you want to be happy when power goes off!!!!!

Large fuel tank and electric start

Has ability to run my entire home. Easy set. Should have purchased one years ago.

Was easy to assemble and started on the first try. Have not had a chance to use for an emergency yet, but everything seems to be working as expected.

Poor tires

After spending close to $3000. for this generator, the very least they could have done is put flat free tires on it. These tires go flat after about a week.

Has failed with only 37hrs

Unit purchased 4.5 yrs ago. Ran great till used this yr. Followed all required maintenance and unit stopped during power outage. Shop Arlo has replaces magnetos and now telling me needs new carb. $728 in repairs and still don't know if will run. I can not recommend this $3000+ generator when i am spending 30% cost of unit after only 37hrs. This is ridiculous and Generac has told Arco they won't do anything to help. Very disappointing for a company to treat customers this way.

Love it

I had an old 12,000 or 10,000 watt Generac not sure what year it was that would run my house off transfer switch. It came with the house n was stored under wood box by transfer switch. I bought the house in 1993 and bought a new cheap generator in 2012 to replace the old Generac . I never used the new generator that was a 12,000 watt other than letting it run a bit every 3 months. We had a bad storm in 2020 and I used it everyday for a week till it came apart n the air filter caught on fire plus...

Best portable generator

Have owned this unit for 16 years. Very particular about maintenance, so it has never let me down, always starts first try. Big enough to power entire house, including central a/c. Ran for 55 hours straight in Hurricane Irma 2017. Annually, just before Hurricane season, do oil & filter, spark plugs & air filter. Only store with non-ethanol fuel, and run carburetor dry at shutdown. Lives in garage under a large cover, looks like day I bought it.

Great unit but...

10 year old unit so take this with a grain of salt. This is a great unit and meets all our needs. But it does have one, I'll call it a design flaw. The fuel pump has a ground wire that needs to make good contact with the motor. The end that attaches to the motor is copper or brass and tends to corrode and break contact. Cost me a $100 to have a repair man come out and buff it with sandpaper. Hope they have corrected this.

Generac reputation

This is my second Generac generator. The first one that I had lasted over 14 years. I sold it because after we sold our house, the new one we purchased was larger, and the 6500 w we used could not power the entire house. emergency power

Very nice generator, runs well and not as noisy as I thought. I haven't had to use it in an emergency as of yet but I am certain it will perform to my expectations.

Enough power for HVAC and Hot Water

After Texas freeze power outage, 85 yr young mother did not desire the experience again. Generator meets all her desires; Heat, Cool, lights and Hot Water.

Beast

this machine is a beast! it is heavy and powerful and should provide the essential back up power my home needs. The manual for the initial set up was small in size which was a shame as a big machine should equal a big picture. the generator is on wheels but is not easy to move as it is soooo heavy. it also would have been nice if generac offered a custom cover for the machine as well.

GP15000 Surges

I've had this generator a while, it has always surged when a load was applied. I have a factory service manual.Generac would not let me speak to a tech to further diagnose it, they tell me I have to take it to a service shop. I am afraid the shop will throw parts at it until it is fixed, assuming they do not replace everything.

My 17500E arrived and after helping the delivery associate get it up the driveway, I lifted the outer carton off the two, yes two, pallets on which it was bolted. A workhorse

I bought THIS generator because of the past experience with the brand, AND because this unit had a larger engine than most of the similarly sized generators. The typical 15kw genset has an 18 to 22 horsepower engine. This model has a 30hp engine!! That extra horsepower means greater power margin for starting loads like HVAC compressors. Old Reliable!!!

We have had this unit going on 7 years now. Used it on and off over years. Never missed at beat!!!!.
