Terrible washers!

I have had nothing but issues with the washer quitting after I purchased it. I’ve called an appliance repair guy to fix for the second time and seems like this thing is just a lemon. I should have complained sooner and now we are too far away from the purchase date. The dryer has been great but I would never touch one of these washers again.

Four years of good service and then the electronics failed. It is an expensive brick without them.

NEAT FEATURES - NOT BUILT TO LAST

Purchased in November of 2023, now August of 2025. So less that 2 years and it has ceased to function. I'm glad we purchased the Extended Protection Plan, but trying to get it warrantied has been a hassle. Appliance repair service must have been the lowest bidder and the quality of service shows. They were a no show twice, spent 5 minutes looking at the machine when they finally showed up. Said they'd order the parts, then never followed up. When I called a week and a half later. Do Not Buy - 3yrs & kaput

Not a General Electric product your parents knew. Owned by Haier this product is now dead after about 3 years. The “10 year warranty” is only motor - and the electric boards and drain pumps all went and cost as much as the washer to fix/replace. What a disappointment. I was hoping buy once cry once.

Stay away. Horrible product

Garbage. A little over a year old and already has issues with the drain motor and/or control board. Of course it happened right outside of warranty coverage. Cost to fix is just about the cost of new. Will never buy another GE product. Will junk this washer and the dryer with it.

Terrible washer.

This is a terrible washer, do not buy. Door switches fail I have replaced 3 and 2 years later drain pump motor is dead.

Broken

Washer broke. Runs when not turned on. Paid a ton of money for it to go bad after 2 years.

Mother board eater

This is a worst washer i ever encounter in my life . It fail after 1 year and 10 months. Pump fail , control board fail.....

BUYER BEWARE. As others have noted, control board is fatally flawed, and failed within 2 years of use. Control board not covered by 10 year warranty. $1200 down the drain - literally.

Model GFW850SSNWW - Absolutely Regret This Purchas

GE Washer – Model GFW850SSNWW - Absolutely Regret This Purchase Two years old and already two major breakdowns—first the inverter board, then the drain pump and filter. Parts take weeks to arrive, so your laundry piles up while you wait. Paid double what my last washer cost, and that one lasted 15 years without a hiccup. Worst appliance decision I’ve ever made.

Main control board went bad

I used to have a GE washing machine and it lasted more than 15 years. I thought that a new GE washing machine would last to similar years, but after 4 years, the Ultrafresh Vent system suddenly had no power. It turned out the main control board went bad. It did happen to thousands of users when I went online for troubleshooting. I was so disappointed with GE.

Getting tired of replacing newer appliances

I have had the washer and dryer for about 1 1/2 years and the drain pump just quit. It only has a 1 year warranty. Thankfully I used a credit card that extended the warranty so hoping to get it fixed under that warranty . I feel that appliances are starting to focus more on technology and starting to lose focus on reliability. I am seeing this across the board. It's very sad.

Don’t buy

Horrible washer, promised it was awesome and anything but!!!! After 1 year, washer stuck and door won’t open with a load inside not finished and expensive repair!!!!!

Broke after 2 years

Do not buy. Broke after 2 yrs of service. Paid way too much money for the washer for poor quality

Are you SERIOUS!!!

Purchased in June of 2023,the Control Board is already gone. To repair it, the Part:$256, Labor: $300, total:$556, for a Washer barely 2 yrs. old. I'd rather buy a new washer, but I guarantee you it won't be a General Electric, what a piece of junk for $1,300. BTW,10yr warranty is for MOTOR ONLY!

Smoke and leak

We purchased washer Nov 2023 and wasn't installed until summer 2024. At the moment we have replaced door lock, computer board and are now trying to figure out where leak is. Buy the extended warranty with this one.

Impossible to maintain - several parts replaced

We have had this set since December 2020 and have an extended warranty. We have had someone out to fix the entire circuit board at year 1, then year 3 had to have the seals replaced and can no longer use the automatic liquid dispenser because it gives out too much liquid and soap causing the buildup that caused said issues, according to the warranty repair men we have had come out. Great Features

Wonderful washer! My first high efficiency model so I was initially surprised at the longer wash cycles. But the features make this so easy to use. I love the performance, the automatic settings, and the choice of cycles. Now that I've gotten used to the longer wash times, I fully and absolutely love this washer.
