Avoid GE washers

When the drain pump fails less than 3 years old it takes the control board with it. You have to replace both or you will immediately fail the one you did not replace. Seems like a recall should have been made because I saw many people in a forum have the exact same issues.

Great washer

This is a great washing machine with plenty of features. I love the personal settings you can do and the load capacity. I recommend this washer to anybody who Needs one

Bit the dust in 20 months

From the time we purchased, after about 6 months our clothes started to smell sour after washing and drying. Then after multiple times of running the self clean cycle we thought it was resolved. A few months ago it would not complete a cycle. Got it to work after trying some steps I found on YouTube. Happened again about a month ago and was again able to get it working. A few days ago it did the same and couldn't get it to work. Now waiting for repairs.

More problems than expected from a new washer

Not real happy with this machine. It’s very loud making all kind of noises. This machine shakes so bad it’s going to damage my floors and walls, it’s that bad. Have had service 4 times and now need another after 5 days of last call as it won’t drain a second time in a week. Service replaced motherboard and 4 days later not working again. Worth it for the Automatic Detergent Dispenser!

My GE GFW850SPNRS has been the best washer I've ever owned. Its impressive speed stands out, but the absolute highlight is the automatic detergent dispensing feature. I was pleasantly surprised to discover this functionality, and now I can't imagine owning a washer without it. For future models, I’d love to see the same convenience applied to fabric softener dispensing!

Great product

So far its been pretty reliable I am having a noise that just started. But I love that it dosent build up mold.

Failed after 1 year and 10 days

Family of 2 adults. Machine installed in March 2024. Machine is just 5-15 days out of warranty. Machine runs between 2 and 3 loads per week. As of today we're getting errors 92,89, 38, 23, and 39, so the inverter board went out. Since the machine is out of warranty, we now need to eat this cost. Worse yet, this machine was built 13 months ago, so if we spend the $ on a new board, it will fail again in 12-ish months. Next one will not be a GE.

Just out of Warranty

Well it appears I have fallen into the same trap as many many others on this forum; my 14 month old washer's main control board has gone out and will not allow the washer to drain. I was hopeful it was the pump, but after further investigation it is definitely the main control board and just outside of warranty. Cost to fix is more than a new washer. I am hopeful GE can make this right and get me a control board made in a different factory.

Great Purchase and It can hold large loads

The things I love about this washer is the capacity to wash large loads of clothes and it can hold my king size bed comforters with room for the sheets as well. It is efficient because it will add the right amount of water and detergent to the loads which saves me money. Having a variety of cycles is a plus because sometimes I have small loads and delicate items to wash. All in one quiet!!!

I’m in love with the idea of an all in one Washer/Dryer! Got it set up today and are running the first load. Very low noise level. And no dryer vent hose needed! Another plus.

Amazing

In love with the amount of laundry I can get done in half the time! We have been using this nonstop for two years now and am so happy with how clean all of my laundry is whether it’s a cold water sensitive setting or a sanitizing wash. There’s a feature for ever type of user.

Clean clothes, yes; clean washer, boo

It does a decent job of cleaning clothes, but maintenance is unnecessarily tedious. The Smart Dispense can clog if you don’t flush it with hot water regularly. The filter cleaning is easy, but I’ve found screwing it back in to be one of the most frustrating things with an appliance IN MY LIFE. It appears to be easy —but I’ve been on the floor for a long time to get the thing to go back in juuuuust right. Meanwhile, laundry in our family of 6 keeps piling up.

Trash stay away

I have had this washer and dryer for a year and about 6 months and the washer do not drain the water I have a tub full of water but if it sit long enough, the water will go out now I see it’s not just my washer GE this not right. Never will I ever buy GE again

Looks like I'm not alone

I bought my washer and dryer as well as a 5 year extended warranty, on both, online on 12/26/23. They were delivered on 01/04/24 (FYI the manufacture warranty starts when you purchase the items not when you receive them). On 02/21/25 the washer stopped draining. I pulled up my digital receipt to get the extended warranty information. I called the insurance company and was told they couldn't locate my information. They sent me an email asking me all the same questions they asked me over the ph...

Only lasts 4 years!

We bought this washing machine 4 years ago and it just quit working. We had a repair guy come and look at it and he said that a control board and most likely a motor were bad and it would cost more to repair it than to buy a new one. We will not be buying another GE!!

Unreliable machine

Worked fine until 3 months out of warranty and the washer wont drain anymore. Checked hoses, replaced drain pump, checked codes, very hard to fix. Suspected replacement parts are the price of a new one, let alone labor to help troubleshoot and service. This is after the matching dryer already malfunctioned twice in the past year. Won't be buying GE again due to this experience.

Already problems on 2 yr old appliance!!

We purchased GE washer and dryer October 2023 and like them so much we ordered another set for another home. We are getting door error codes on the washing machine. I already replaced the lock assembly and still getting the error code. Now I have to replace the control board. A lot of money to spend on fairly new appliances!! Drainage issues

Have only had this for a year and already having drainage issues.

Not a reliable washer (GFW850SPNRS)

GE 5.0 cu. ft. Smart Sapphire Blue Front Load Washer with OdorBlock is not as reliable as I have read in review of consumer reports when making the purchase. Model for this product is GFW850SPNRS. This washer broke down within 1.5 year of purchase, just little after the warranty period, so anyone looking to purchase and is able to see this review, go with Samsung, they have much better products!
