Works great, but requires maintenance
I purchased this evaporative cooler towards the end of 2019 just out of curiosity. I have lived in a hot, dry area for thirty years, yet I never even considered using a "swamp" cooler. Always struggling with the heat, then only using AC as a last resort and complaining about the electric bill afterwards. Mixed feelings
Got this cooler as I like the idea that it can't rust, and I have 4 other metal swamp coolers that I take care of. Rust is a big issue. Installation was not easy (directly into the wall) and the instructions were poor. But we got it in. The back is a bear to get on, really poor design, and a two person job. poor quality control and cheap float valve
The front grille has 4 screws connecting it to the assembly, however only 2 were fastened leaving one side of the grille flapping loose. The body of the float was plastic and the 1/4 in. fitting turned loose in it not allowing the rest of the fittings to be snugged. Also the control panel keeps falling out of place. However after connecting the grille replacing the float it works very well. Very quite on low.

does not live up to hype
I bought this cooler 3 years ago and gave it away after the 2nd summer! I have AC but was tired of the $200 bill each summer months for electricity. Yes, my electric bill went down a little after installing, but you have to stay in the same room to feel ANY cooling benefit. And yes we followed window venting and other suggestions. I've had this cooler for about a month, and after proper set up it works very well. It keeps my 1200 sqft house 20-25 degrees cooler than the outside.
