VERY HARD TO USE

PRODUCT DOES NOT WORK VERY WELL WITH THE CHOICEDEK COMPOSITE DECK BOARDS THAT WE BOUGHT! ENDED UP GETTING ANOTHER HIDDEN DECK FASTENER SYSTEM THAT WORKED MUCH BETTER AND EASIER AND LESS EXPENSIVE! I'M GOING TO TRY TO RETURN THESE TO LOWES FOR A REFUND EVEN THOUGH THEY'VE BEEN OPENED.

I just used a box of these fasteners and yes they are hard to use. There is a learning curve and some people just don't wait long enough to get it. I covered our very old sad concrete front porch with composite decking using these. Concrete anchored pressure treated to the concrete extended the size and then covered with composite ChoiceDek gray. Excellent Hidden Fasteners

I used these clips to anchor a composite deck floor for a 12 X 16 gazebo. I used Lowes' brand ChoiceDeck boards. I placed the floor joist about 16 inches apart. These clips were ideal in every way. I had absolutely no problems with these clips. And through the whole job I only used 1 screw bit and the bit is still good. The only problem I encountered was that I thought these were a little expensive, but the floor looks great without screws showing.

Received open/used product

Ordered product online and it was delivered to my house. Upon opening box I noticed that the bucket was not sealed like a bucket normally is with the piece that needs to be pulled to open. So I open the container and see the bags of special fasteners are ripped open and half empty. There are USED screws in the bucket! The staff was very helpful, friendly & Knowledgeable about this product. However these clips are pricy! $170 per box, I needed 2 boxes. Clips do work great, hidden and spaces the composit boards perfectly.

Not worth it

Started with these and the screws broke off plus they don't seem very secure. Pain to use too. Returned them and got the composite screws instead. They have small heads and instal flush. Make sure you don't just use regular wood screws! Deck is turning out great, glad I went with composite, looking forward to low maintenance.

Plan on spending extra time on these

At first I couldn't get my boards to go all the way into the clips even though everything was level. The only way I could get the boards all the way in was with pipe clamps. So every board was a process. Also if a clip is noticeably bent lower down make sure to bend it up some. I only had that happened a few times and noticed the clip was just bent different than other clips. The screws are okay. I don't recommend using the provided drill bit. I almost didn't buy these due to all the poor reviews, and because of such good luck I though it warranted writing a review to make sure others don't miss out. This is a solid product and if you take your time and use your tools correctly you will not have an issue. If you want to rush and don't care about the finished product, these are not for you. Don't be in a hurry. Final results are worth it. Bought the clips based on recommendation from store staff, THEN read the reviews. Almost returned them before I got started. Glad I didn't. Square drive???

Liked the hidden design, well made, but I was dumbfounded when I pulled the first screw out of the box and saw a SQUARE DRIVE!! Are you kidding me? All the different torx sizes and you guys went with square ? I wouldn't recommend it because of that even though the clip is great.

Yuck

I have built several decks professionally, and never had so much trouble with a product. Just glad I didn't use these fasteners on a customers deck. Took two days to install about 160 square feet of Trex on our own deck, and it was a fight every step of the way. Stripped screw heads, even with the brand new bits that come in the box. Had to pry and beat the decking under every single fastener. Found some real Trex fasteners at Home Depot, and now life is golden!

this product is great for hiding the fasteners but is a lot more time consuming to install it also is more expensive to do

They are beautiful but take your time

I read the previous reviews and wondered if I should use these fasteners. Well, I decided to purchase them after I could hardly find them on the shelf (they are a popular item). After installing the fasteners, they look awesome! However, take your time and ensure that the bit is securely inserted into the screw head before drilling. The head of the screw is soft, but taking your time will prevent damages to the head.

Absolute garbage quality

As others have mentioned, there are major problems with the design of these clips. Pros: None Cons: - You have to screw in the clip completely before testing if it lines up with your board correctly (remember, not every board is 100% straight). On long runs this creates a lot of holes in your joists. Don't listen to negative reviews!

These were not that difficult to use. They do take extra time when compared with just screwing through boards, but you end up with a completely smooth product with no flaws. You really just have to pay attention to what you are doing and seat the drill bit well prior to trying to tighten. I installed 16' style selections decking and needed close to 3 buckets of these for a 48X10 deck. I stripped out 2 or 3 screws total. And truth be told they were probably just my fault. I had the stainless screws and the first 8 I put in 3 bent, had to take vise grips to get then on. They use a number 1 square drive and it strips out eazy.. I went back to the better screws and had my porch done in the time I wasted on 1 board with the clips

Awesome final result. Not quick or easy

This is a great hardware set for someone who wants hidden fasteners but at the cost of added installation time and some frustration. The fasteners are good stainless steel which should last the life of the deck but all things have trade offs, and in this case the square head screws can strip out easily. A good cordless drill and new clean bits should limit the number of stripped screws. A good frame is a must, if you have uneven joists getting the decking to slid into the clips will be a pain. I...

Versaclip hidden fasteners

These fasteners have very cheaply made screws and driver bits. I've stripped out at least a dozen screws and had to cut them off and use a second screw. The square design of the screw head is small and poor, and I have also stripped out two of the driver bits that come with the fasteners. I have been able to use the screws to install but things would have been much easier with quality hardware.
