Not quite compatible with all Trex decking...

...even though the package suggests it is. That is unless you want a >1/4" gap between your decking boards. The groves in the Trex Enhanced decking aren't as deep as the clip pins, so it increases the gap too much. Plus, as other's have mentioned, the two drill bits they provide don't last more than a dozen or so clips. I'd recommend pre-drilling beforehand, but that will increase the time two-fold. For $165 (plus tax) this was an expensive lesson.

Effective hidden fastener for composite decking

Overall very good performance and relatively easy to work with. However, screws tend to strip easily so just be careful. But overall look is excellent. Fasteners are not visible unless you look straight down at gap between boards.

Terrible Screws

Screws are made out of very weak materials and strip very, very easily. 1/3 of the bucket purchased had to be extracted using an easy out tool or vice grips and backed out.

Don't waste your money.

Impossible to use with16' Trex. Screw heads strip out easily even after purchasing DeWalt small square drive bits. $159 plus tax per 200 square feet for two days of total frustration to attach four boards. Might work on a deck two feet off the ground, but mine is nine feet up. Buyer beware.

Mixed bag

No doubt the results looked good but these are not easy to use. Used with Azek decking and had to fight every board. Modified the clips by bending back the small spacer tab. Ended up using both clips and the concealed fasteners. Would not recommend. I am not a professional deck installer, but I am way past weekend warrior with home improvement skills. Believe there must be better options.

Great Deck Fastener

I was a little leary of these after reading the reviews. But after an entire bucket and one two extra smaller add on's I was overall very pleased. I only had 10 or so screws strip out and had to be removed. I chalk this up to my impact driver (I think a regular drill would have not been as successful). If I put the fasteners at a greater angle they would pull the boards in, less of an angle just where I placed it. I started at the outer edge because I didn't want a short board near the out...

Glad I used these

I found the Versaclip to work well with composite board install. I had considered going old school and screwing in the boards from the top, so glad I didn't, the boards split and mushroom. Plus the clips are faster to install than attaching from top. Only reason I gave 4 stars, heads are a square pattern and strip easliy. Not sure why they did not do a star pattern or phillips head.

The clips are very time consuming and difficult to place in the groves. The screws strip at least 33% of the time. Not worth the time and money. Also the gap between boards is too wide. I wasted 162 dollars on a sorry product.

After putting in a couple you get the right angle and they work just fine. (Just a little on the expensive side)

Inconsistent

The outcome from using these fasteners was very unpredictable. They drive in at any angle and if you’re not careful you can actually bow the board you are working on from using more or less of an angle. Easy to use! Don’t listen to neg reviews

Worried about buying theses because of bad reviews. Work great , obviously take longer then face screwing , but looks a million times better. Some people should hire people instead of dyi, square tip heads rarely strip. Great product

Junk

Horribly overpriced garbage. The screws strip out easier than anything I've ever seen. And I've been doing this for 20+ years. If you absolutely have to use this garbage, you are better off with spax decking screws with star drive heads. Seriously, these screws are garbage. The clips themselves are just ok. But installing ChoiceDecking with them is nowhere near as easy as the guides make it seem.

Easy to Strip

The fastening system is great. All of the components work, but the screw heads are a bit soft and it is too easy to strip out the square recess. Once stripped, it's nearly impossible to remove the screw and try again. The results are fine.
