What Customers Are Saying
The product is a powerful and efficient tool for drilling into concrete, brick, and other tough materials. Customers praised its performance, with minimal vibration and overheating, and found it to be an excellent choice for heavy-duty tasks. However, a few users reported issues with the drill, such as it burning out or struggling with certain jobs, and some felt it lacked power at lower speeds, making it less suitable for delicate work. Overall, the product appears to be a reliable and well-suited tool for most home improvement and construction projects.

It worked for me!
Would RecommendI bought this drill today to drill eight 3/8" holes for some wedge anchors in a set of concrete stairs to mount an aluminum handrail, and I will be using it again for eight more. I was frankly surprised at how quickly I was able to make those holes. I think this is a very good tool for the price. Certainly there are larger, heavier hammer drills out there. I suspect that if I needed to drill 3/4" holes, this one is probably not the right tool. But for holes 1/2" or smaller, I think this too...
Works like a charm
Would RecommendWorks like you would expect it to right out of the box. Easily put 1/2” x 4” anchor holes holes in cement footers.

Amazing what the proper tools do
Would RecommendDrilling a few holes into a brick fireplace with a normal rotary drill. Asked an individual at Lowe's if there would be any issues with this or if I had the proper tools, was informed that while it wouldn't be the most effective, wouldn't have an issue. 3 hours later and 2 drill bits and only 2.75 holes into the 5 necessary for the project, decide to get this. Wow what a difference! Remaining 2.25 holes were drilled in under 5 mins, perfectly drilled, and do damage done to the brick. The rotati...

DeWalt De Wait
Would RecommendI like the drill and it suggests you register it online at dewalt.com/register. I created an account and then went to register, the first box says "enter SKU or Product ID". I entered DW511, it's on the box the drill and the manual, up pops a compound saw. Well maybe I entered it wrong, nope same result, I got the box out of the garage and entered the UPC off the box, the one that Lowe's scanned when I bought the product, nope that didn't work, so I tried the last 5 of the UPC, this is usuall...
Smoked it
Would Not RecommendUsed it to pre-drill railroad ties with a 5/8" ship auger bit and it smoked on first hole. Not impressed.
Not really Heavy Duty
Would Not RecommendI'm a DeWalt lifetime user. Almost all the tools I have are DeWalt so when I needed an electric drill I bought this one. Have had just over a year and use infrequently but want it to be there when I need it. Today while drilling a 3" hole in a 2x4 the internal shaft snapped. Motor still works but chuck doesn't spin. Not the quality I had expected. Going to have to start looking for another power tool company that can build quality into their products. So disappointed after all these years...

Used once and it died
Used this drill one time it started to smoke and died. I expect more from a Dewalt tool. Not happy.

Good
Would RecommendFor the price, this was s bargain for a hammer drill. So far it's done every thing I needed it to do. My only issue is with its slow speed operation in drill mode. You can't really get it to work like a screw driver-- it just won't run at a slow enough speed. Way too much torque for that. For the 69 dollars I spent on it, it's a winner

Awesome Drill
Would RecommendDrilled holes in brick to install dryer vent on side of house. 23 holes and about 10 minutes later and the job was done. Highly recommend.
Good value for the Money
Would RecommendI was working on an electric outlet on deck to put a weather proof cover on it. My old corded drill was not effective on the Brick wall. I just looked up the hammer drill available and picked this as a brand name, and ordered. Well, it did the work I wanted. Thanks to Lowes for price matching with Home Depot. Paying $90 was still bit more.

Good hammer drill
Would RecommendBought 510 model and took it back the next day. Got the DW 511 and it worked great. Handle stayed tight and got the job done.

Great if you need just 1 hole
Would Not RecommendI bought 1 to drill some holes through brick and concrete block. It did the first 4 holes beautifully! I was really impressed. Then it stayed on all by itself. It wouldn't turn off. (No, the trigger lock wasn't engaged, I checked.) It ran by itself for a minute or two, then shut off and seemed to work ok again. I drilled another 3 holes and it just quit. The motor would jump if I pumped the trigger, but that was it. I took it back and exchanged it for another one. The same thing happen...

DONT LET THIS SIZE AND AMPS FOOL YOU.
Would RecommendI PURCHASED THIS ONLY BECAUSE IVE USED DEW ALT FOREVER, I NEEDED IT TO ATTACH FOOTINGS TO MY CEMENT FOUNDATION ALONG SIDE OF THE HOUSE, AT FIRST I WASN'T SURE BECAUSE OF THIS SIZE, I DID LOOK AT MILWAUKEE UNTIL I FOUND OUT IT WAS NOW CHINA. BEING THEY WERE THE KIND OF RUGGED BACK IN THE DAY. I CHOOSE THIS ONE BECAUSE OF ITS RATINGS, AS LONG AS YOU HAVE GOOD SHOULDERS AND GOOD STRONG FIRM HANDS THIS WORKS PERFECT. I DROVE 3/4" LAG HOLES LONG WITH THE BOLTS IN NO TIME, 12 TO BE EXACT. THEN THE...

Caught on fire before it could even drill one hole
Would Not RecommendI bought this as a replacement to my cheap Harbor Freight drill I had for the last 4 yrs... I figure i would spend a little more for the Dewalt since it was US made and had the hammer option... i am drilling holes to run electrical wires in the joist... this drill locked up whilst struggling to get through the first hole, i backed it out and pulled the trigger with no load when it popped, started to smoke and caught on fire... i guess i'll be returning this and getting another cheapo throwaway f...
