Works for badic home projects, usually Dewalt comes with a bag, not this. Side handle moves under hard drilling. Go for the 10 amp version.

Great hammer drill

This drill is a beast. Replaced the same one I’ve had for years. It burned out after my 4th tile job and years of auto/home inprovement jobs.

More than 10 Years and Still Running Like New!

I came to this site for a drill case and decided to do a review of the DW511 drill. I have had this drill for more than 10 years. I mostly use it on small projects around the house and for a few bookshelves and cabinets that I built for home use over the years. I do not know how it performs on large jobs or with constant use. But, it has never failed me. For my purposes, this has been an outstanding investment and I'm very pleased with the consistency and quality.

Works Great

I bought this drill to be able to drill into block wall in order to frame a basement bathroom. I have used it for many other projects since. I think that I can switch between the hammer drill and regular. The drill is fantastic and very powerful.

Seems to kick out of gear when drilling a hole

I bought this drill about 6 or so years ago, I would not have drilled 200 holes with it, ( wood and steel) and is now kicking out of gear when drilling holes and I tried calling call centre to confirm if its under warranty and just got frustrated going through that process.. Looks like only 3 yr warranty

Disposable Drill

Drilled 8-10 holes without a problem. A few months later drilled 3 holes with a brand new bit. The drill functioned (turned as usual), but didn't seem to hammer like it should. Rented a $400 drill and used the same bit, and it drilled without a problem. I believed the hammering mechanism within the drill wore out which is a very important aspect to drilling concrete. I would not buy this drill or recommend it to anybody. In fact, I'm convinced any hammer drill under $200 is a throw-a-way b...

LASTED 6 MONTHS

I RARELY USED THIS TOOL BUT AFTER A FEW TIMES OF USING IT IT BEGAN SMOKING AND STOPPED WORKING. THE SERVICE WITH DEWALT WAS FANTASTIC BUT THAT IS NO LONGER THE CASE. SLOWLY LOSING FAITH IN THE BRAND IVE INVESTED AROUND 10K IN TOOLS WITH.

It did the job, but......

Lowes standards have dropped. Shouldn’t charge full price for a used drill. You can see dirt on the drill from the pics and the scratch ring near the chuck where the handle attaches. Lowes do a better job when tools are returned. Lower standards = lower ratings!

Did the job!

The tool worked as expected. The key to any job is understanding what tool and how heavy duty the tool needs to be for the job. This was a perfect fit and size for periodic drilling into concrete. If you are going to be doing it as a profession I would choose the appropriate size for your usage.

Easy to use

This is a very well made product. It went through the concrete "like "butter". Love this drill.

So far - so good!

Drilled a bunch of 1/4" holes in concrete foundation with ease. Will be drilling 3/4" holes soon - will update. Adjustable stop works great - saves time and bother of taping drill bit.

Lifesaver

I had been drilling holes in concrete with my rotary drill, taking ~15 minutes per hole. I was expecting this to be better, but I was blown away. Ripped through the concrete with ease (5-10 seconds per hole). Well worth the cost
