What Customers Are Saying
The hose repair product has mixed reviews. Some customers found it to be a simple, effective, and high-quality solution, with an easy installation, secure fit, and durable metal construction. However, others experienced issues with the product's performance and durability, particularly with the included hose clamp, which was described as poorly constructed and prone to leaking or breaking. The mender did not fit properly on certain hose types, resulting in a poor seal. Overall, the consensus is that the hose mender itself is decent, but the quality of the accompanying clamp is a major drawback.

Would Not Recommendthe device is made of two components. The female fitting is design to allow it to rotate to scew onto the male end. The design fails to seal between the two parts and leaks terribly. After three tries it still is a terrible failure. There are lots of other better options. I recommend Lowe’s drop this item.
Junk, Don't leave on spigot !
Would Not RecommendHave to remove from spigot after each use and leave disconnected. I left this hooked up all summer in NJ "city water". This thing corroded and welded itself to spigot. Had to pay a plumber $90 to remove.

Build-in leak, times have changed (Read before buy
Would RecommendAll Hose Menders will not work anymore with a ribbed hose. Most New hoses have an interior build-in small tiny rib which causes the hose I.D. to be out-of-round This is build-in obsolescence. The next time buy a Hose which doesn't have a rib so it can be repaired & won't leak, or use an exacto-knife and cut away the rib. Even the slightest bump will keep a hose from laying flat against the Mender. The Rib won't compress. Nothing wrong with the Mender - Most are great Menders, as most are, but ...

Worthless
Would Not RecommendAlthough the item looks stout at first glance, it is actually very poorly constructed. The screw head on the hose clamp is entirely too small for a regular flat-head screwdriver, forcing you to use a small-head screwdriver instead. This does not give you enough leverage to tighten the clamp adequately, causing it to slip off the hose as soon as water pressure is applied. I could not find a nut driver that would work with it either. Thankfully, I was able to salvage a replacement end from an olde...
Complete garbage
Would Not RecommendProduct leaks, impossible to tighten enough. I purchased it thinking that all the negative reviews were exaggerated, or that others were not strong enough to tighten it enough. Nope. I eventually broke the collar trying to get it tight enough. The product at it's tightest leaked more water than the leak I was trying to fix.
There is no way this will fit a 3/4 in I.D. hose. As for the clamp will not work. What about quality control?
As many have said, this is junk. I had to supply my own clamp in order to get the clamp tight enough to hold water. The clamp supplied did not have enough threads to get it cinched. Why Lowe's would put this item on the shelves is a mystery. No more YardSmith for me and Home Depot is just up the road.
clamp is too soft
Would Not RecommendI tightened the clamp as much as I could to stop the water from leaking from the hose. The clamp stripped after being tightened too much. Water still leaked out with all of the torque. I then used a 3/4" PEX clamp ring too and water still leaked from the hose.
Looks like brass but is just plated aluminum.
Would Not RecommendI bought 2 so I'd have a spare. 1st one broke after about 3 months use. The 2nd one broke as soon as I put it on. Both broke off right where nipple meets the flange. Only .060" wall thickness doesn't take much to snap it off. For the money go for solid brass next time.
Poorly machined made of thinest possible aluminum
Would Not RecommendThis fitting purchased 21 August, 2017. The body is made of extremely thin brass plated aluminum. I didn’t use the supplied hose clamp because it looks to be of a very poor quality. I used two stainless steel clamps to make sure the hose connection wouldn’t leak. The hose collar and nut are poorly machined and leak water around the collar. I will be returning this item as soon as possible.
Cheap junk! Too bad there is no zero star ratings.
Would Not RecommendI purchased 5 each of the male and female types. They cracked and leaked immediately. I'm going to get my money back and go to a real plumbing supplier.
LEAKED
Would Not RecommendThis fitting leaked no matter how much I tightened it. I have messed up the outside of it trying to tighten it so now I can't return it. It leaks on the back side of the fitting where the barbed end fits into the threaded piece very bad. Do not buy!
Cheap Junk
Would Not RecommendThe paper thin band stripped before it was even tight around the hose. Taking this back. I'll go tonanreal hardware store to get something that actually works.
3/4 Inch hose repair????? HA!!!
Would Not RecommendNo, No, No,!!!!! If you have a 3/4 inch hose this is not the ticket. Why any manufacturer would sell a combo is beyond me. What happens is it doesn't work very well for either size. My suggestion??? Buy the proper part, which BTW you can't do here. Try the "A" word to find what you need. Sorry Lowes, not your fault, but have your buyer go back to the drawing board.
junk
Would Not RecommendI bought this hose fitting after buying another yardsmith product to fix the same problem but didn't work. This hose repair leaked in the same way the other one did. This female fitting leaks around the collar and the hose barb. I even tried replacing the rubber gasket inside the female collar. No help it still leaked. Yardsmith makes a very low quality products. I wouldn't buy from them again. I'm going to see if home depot has anything of better quality.
Poor design for high pressure use
Would RecommendI connected this to a high pressure irrigation hose. When initially installed, the flitting leaked slightly no matter how hard I tensioned the hose clamp. The next day I came out and the pressure had pushed the hose clamp right of the fitting and I had irrigation water flooding my back yard. I went with another design of fitting that is working great. Great clamp if you don't need a high pressure fitting.

didn't work
Would Not RecommendI put this on the end of a hose and no matter how much I tightened it it still leaked at the connection. In the end I stripped it trying to get it tight enough

Saved my leaky hose!!
Would RecommendI was getting ready to throw my hose away since it had a slit near the female female coupler end but decided to buy this hose repair clamp from Lowes. I cut off the part that was next to the end of the house and attached this repair clamp.. It worked perfectly and only took about five minutes. Now I have use of the hose again and 50 extra feet of hose!!!
