What Customers Are Saying
The metal hose mender can be an effective and economical solution for repairing damaged garden hoses, though the quality of the included clamps is often poor. While the brass or metal coupling itself is generally seen as a good quality component, many reviewers found the clamps to be too narrow, prone to stripping, and unable to be tightened sufficiently to prevent leaks. When used with higher-quality clamps purchased separately, the mender was reported to work well without any leaks.

Excellent hose mender
Would RecommendVery high quality and does a nice job fitting two pieces of hose together
You will need a heat gun to install this.
Would RecommendThis hose repair device saved me from having to buy a new hose. My hose was leaking in two places and tape wouldn't solve the problem. I cut out the damaged portions of the hose, installed the repair devices and no more leaks. The device comes without instructions but in my case it was necessary to use a heat gun to soften the hose before inserting the metal tube.
works well
Would RecommendDid what I needed, couldn't find brass anywhere else.
oversized
Would Not Recommendkit is for "5/8 and 3/4 inch" hoses - that makes it too large for my 5/8" hose. It's an old hose and too stiff to stretch onto the nipple
trash hose clamps
Would Not Recommendthe hose clamps are trash and fail before becoming tight enough to seal the hose.
Don’t feel compelled to purchase a new garden hose when it becomes damaged, just repair it, and it will be like new. It’s good to tape your repair job so you don’t hurt yourself on the exposed clamps.
No good!
Would Not Recommendthe bands don't tighten and seal the gap of the hose...no good for anything
Better products in the Plumbing section
Would Not RecommendDoing a Lowe's web search for, "Hose Repair" found this. Made it in to my store, and was disappointed that it was aluminum with a 100-degree temperature rating. I put it back. I found it odd that I could not find a similar product in the web search in the plumbing section. I went to the Plumbing section of my local store and found, "B&K 5/8-in x 5/8-in dia Barbed Splicer Adapter Fitting" to be solid brass with a 160 degree temperature rating. Turns out to find such a fitting, I needed to search ...
Leaky
Would Not RecommendAlmost broke hose clamps trying to get them tight enough to stop the leak. Would not stop leaking.
Does not work for 3/4 in hose
Would Not RecommendTried to fix my 3/4 ID hose with this. Did not work. Mender is too small for this. Clamp slips when you try to make it tight enough. I am returning.
Easiest hose mender there is
Would RecommendI've used these for years. Go into cut hoses better than the plastic ones. I'm a 59 year old woman, if I can do it... Only down side is the clamp adjusters snag a bit in the lawn.
****A COMPLETE FAILURE DO NOT BUY*****
Would Not RecommendInstalled three times on a commercial hose and came off all three times. I am not sure why but I think the clamps get caught on things like the sidewalk or concrete driveway edge and they are then knocked down of of the brass fitting and then comes apart.
Beats buying a new hose
Would RecommendNot exactly as pictured and like some other reviews stated, there is a groove for the clamp that you MUST line up or it will leak... My hose burst in a weak spot on a 95 degree day... Hose nice and soft so the mender slid right on. Lined the clamps up with the grooves, tightened, no leaks at all (hose is under 50psi pressure). Works as advertised. I gave it 4 stars because the clamps are kinda weak looking. We'll see.
Yardsmith 5/8" & 3/4" Clamp Water Hose Mender
Would Recommendhave used this brand from Lowes many times and without a doubt, it is one of the finest water hose repair kits you can buy. Quality-made in ever respect.
Not for some hoses
Would Not RecommendThis is a universal 5/8 or 3/4 hose mender. If you have a super duty 5/8" hose it may not stretch enough. I would not use this with a 3/4" hose since it may be too small (i.e. may leak). Lowe's should sell a 5/8 and a 3/4 sized hose mender. I suspect this is an 11/16" since it is for both sizes.
Not the kit pictured
Would Not RecommendThe kit is now made with thinner clamp bands that strip out of the grooves when tightened. The inner brass tube has a groove the width of the band, not the tapered flanges. The former kit was as pictured in the product description and worked well. The new kit is junk. The attached photo shows the old kit above and new one bellow, both installed on the same hose. The old repair works, while the new one leaks as its bands cannot be tightened fully.
Poor design - Its not one piece and leaks.
Would Not RecommendYou would think the brass is all one piece. Nope ! The 2 halves are swedged together. They probably saved 5 cents making it that way. As soon as you drop it or yank on it starts to leak. Go buy a cheap plastic one for landscape tubing.
