Almost useless photocell

Two barely-deserved stars, because it's compact and did fit in to a small fixture as a replacement. A photocell is supposed to switch on dusk-dawn. This one is so insensitive to light it never switches off naturally. It's located on a north-facing wall, and only turns off if a flashlight is shone in to its sensor - then it's back on again a minute after the flashlight is removed. Works great, only issue was that the leads were to short for my application and I had to splice extensions to them

DOA?

Purchced one, failed to turn off during day time. Returned and swapped out with another. Same problem. Now its back to the store but this time i will purchase Torx brand.

Be Carefull

It doesn’t take much pressure (retro install on outdoor wall sconce in my case) to cause this PC to stop working. I hand tightened a trim nut on an outdoor wall sconce where the cell protruded out 1/8” farther than the rim of the fixture. Worked when I tested it after install, but it stopped working before nightfall. Recommend installing a different system if your fixture can’t more than accommodate this PC size.

Poor Quality

I have bought two of these. First one lasted almost a year and burned up. Had a dark brown burn spot on the side. Second one lasted 3-1/2 months and got to where it never shut off. The light shines 24/7. DO NOT BUY!!!!

the description for this product is woefully inadequate. I bought this this because it was small and fit inside my fixture. First, it's advertised as exterior. then it states to make sure your enclosure is waterproof Second, it doesn't explain how it operates. For example, I returned one just because I thought it was defective. Anyone with half a brain should test the device before putting everything back together. Purchased to install in existing outdoor wall luminaire. Easy to mount and wire. Works dusk to dawn!

Works

This replaced a 30 year old photocell. While the fit wasn't perfect, it did work.

Quality construction, easy installation per instructions, functioning as detailed. Very pleased with this product purchase.

Garbage

As many other reviewers say, this product does not last, from few weeks to few mo this, not even a year. I am on my third one in the past 2 years, and that is leaving the bad cell alone for few months before I decide to get a new one, waste of money with this company. Don’t buy it.

had the utiitech brand & they would not shut off until 3 hrs. after sunrise . with this brand coupled with led bulbs it turns on 30 min. before & after sunset

Auto light switch

Work well for garage Doors and patio lights. Turn light on or off for security while away from home.

I wish the light fixture had come with a photocell
