Inoperable

Just purchased at the local Lowe's Abilene. Installed into the frame of an outdoor wall mount light for garage. Powered up and the light came on. It's daylight. So I checked wiring harness and it's wired correctly. Shined a bright light into the sensor, no change.

This thing STINKS

Replaced another mini photocell that stopped working after 5 years. This one was larger, but still (barely) fit. At first, it just kept the light on for much too long, but still shut off for most of the day. But after a week, it just started cycling on and off every 2-3 minutes, all day. I took it back and found a similar mini cell that more closely matched my older, smaller mini, and it works perfectly. This one needs a redeisgn.

Don't waste your time

Purchased this to replace my old one and I might as well have re-wired to a light switch. The sensor doesn't turn on at dusk or night but sometimes flickers on at high noon. . . . Absolute trash!

Thicker than the one I replaced but i made it work. Works as expected.

Instructions could be better

Only problem I had was there is a sentence missing in the instructions which caused me a lot of unnecessary work. After this is connected properly, when you turn the switch on in daylight it will turn on. This is normal. Give it about 2-5 minutes and it will adjust itself and turn off (assuming it is light enough). This missing info caused an unnecessary trip to Lowe’s to purchase another one. The troubleshooting guide makes it seem that it will react immediately to light and dark. Patience........

Doesn’t last

It fit fine and worked ok for about a year but then failed and lights on all the time. Buy a different brand. The low reviews for this brand are deserved.

Works well – so far

I bought this after first trying a screw in socket with the photocell built into the socket. That didn’t work, because the sensor was inside the fixture. The Lowe’s associate directed me to these external mount photocells. I drilled a hole in the outside of the fixture on the side pointing towards sunrise. failed after 3 months

Failed after 3 months, Purchased because it was smaller than others, easy to hide. This is the 3rd one that failed in recent years in different circuits, all this model, none lasted more than 6 months. No more from this company.

It has a nice delay before reacting to light changes and that is a big PLUS.

JUNK

Installed to drive an 18 watt LED garden light so the load is trivial. Waterproof outlet with full view of sky was insufficient for this crappy item to turn off except in full sun. It totally failed after a few months. NEVER buy! Even Chinese junk outperforms this! I am an electrical engineer - trust me, you can do better for the money!

Worked

Tried to tape the lense to simulate darkness that did not work, however it worked and has worked every evening. Easy to wire.
