Quality changed a few years ago

I have used these sensors for years to replace old sensors. The version I bought years ago has lasted. The model sold by Lowe’s the last 3 years lasts less than a year. Replacing is awkward and time consuming. I would pay more for a better sensor.

Failed within one year

Bought this in late 2024 and it worked fine for about 12 months then failed to turn lamppost light on at night. It took a while to troubleshoot the problem but I finally removed the lamp from the post and meter showed 110V power at the terminal end of the feed wires. Removed the photocell and did a hot>common continuity check and the connection remained open with the photocell covered so no light entered it. Photocell was bad.

this is not the same part as pictured . its a lot bigger same part # as old style but not the same size .will not buy again took over an hour to make it fit. picture is misleading. not happy at all.

Does not last

I have purchased a couple of them and they don't last even well within the load limits. I went to get a replacement to replace under the limited warranty and see that it they have changed the product. I used this because of the narrow design and the current product is now much wider so it's useless. I guess I need to go to the other guys. Also Lowe's should update their picture to match the current product.

FAILED

First I should have listened to the reviews that the dimensions were incorrect. It is 7/8 inch wide not 1/2. After a temporary installation because it will not fit properly it then failed to function. I am a retired electrician and have installed and maintained many industrial lighting circuits so this photocell was a no brainer. Don’t buy this as it is a gamble on being operational. I lost.

Photo does not match actual product

I purchased one of these photocells several years ago from Lowe's. My sensor quit working so I ordered a couple of new ones that are the same model number. Unfortunately the size of the product changed and they are now way too thick for my application. The photo on the website still shows the thinner version. Buyer beware if you need the thin one. The current version is about 7/8" thick. The broken one I have is only 1/2" thick.

No longer on shelves

The photocell is decent for the price. unfortunately my local Lowes no longer stocks this particular photocell. The Item number is for a photocell much larger than this one. For anyone looking for a mini button photocell I found them at a Lowes competitor. Intermatic Model# K4621D89

Doesn't Work

Did not work. Light would not come on.
