Just got this

Just bought this to replace a Ryobi that would not start under any circumstances. So far, I am impressed. Only used twice but am completely happy with it. If I had it longer I might give it 5 stars.

Good while it worked but only for 2 months

I honestly liked this product. Thought it was a great weight, a lot of power to cut thick areas. I bought Lowes 40:1 premixed gas only for this and ran it maybe 2 to 3 hours a day Four day a week. Easy crank, never a problem. Now its been two months and it won't run. Drained old fuel, bought new spark plugs. It'll start but if you apply the throttle it shuts off EVERY TIME.

Bear with me on this little story before the actual review. So, I have been using Troy-Bilt trimmers and blowers for the past 14 years. As a consumer that "occasionally" mows additional yards weekly, I was at the point where my 14 year old trimmer/edger finally bit the dust due to the reed going bad. Now, at this point I could have ordered some parts and got her going again or I could bite the bullet and just get a new one. I figured 14 years ain't bad running a 2-stroke on 10% ethonal fuels...

Machine runs great , but it will hurt your wrist to use.

Very Disappointing Trimmer

I bought this trimmer because the fuel lines rotted away on my 12 year old Ryobi. I bought this model because I can use the attachments from the Ryobi and I own a 4 year old Troy-Bilt snowblower that has been very dependable. There are several problems with this trimmer. First, it is very loud compared to my old Ryobi and requires me to wear hearing protection. Second, it does not rev up well and is not very powerful. Not worth the price

Low-end piece of junk. You're supposed to be able to spin the shaft so you can edge with the push of a button, but it is almost impossible to make the thing spin unless you lay it down and use a screw driver to push the button in. On top of that, after about 5 uses, the nipple that is in the gas tank for the primer hose to attach to disconnected and fell into the bottom of the gas tank . Disappointed

Upgraded in June from a 25cc Troy-Bilt, thinking this one would go the distance. However, needed to return mine yesterday because the connector rod broke. I stay with canned gas and utilize multiple attachments. May try it again hoping this was just a lemon, but consumer reports rates this 2 of 5 stars.

Piece of JUNK!!!

I read severally reviews on this weed eater before buying of which were both positive and negative. Folks, read this review with faith that this unit isn't worth the advertising Lowe's spends on it to post to the website. I purchased this unit in the fall of 2016 when grass season was over. Pulled it out of the box in the spring of 2017 and the trouble began. Immediately I had trouble getting it to start AND remain running. I changed the gas, checked carburetor, and air filer....no change....

Works great first time

I bought this today at Lowe's in Wheeling,WV. Took it home and spent approximately 1/2 HR assembling it. Put in 40 to 1 premix, primed 10 times and it started 3rd pull. Ran for 1/2 HR. Went back 1 hr later and pulled without priming and started 1st pull. Ran like a champ, cuts great. So far I am very pleased with it. I'll update after further use.

Troy-Built Does NOT Stand Behind Their Products!!!

Do not buy this trimmer! Assembled this trimmer and started it per written instructions. The trimmer would not continue running when not on full choke. Tried several times. Was using new, proper fuel, etc. Called the Toy-Built 800#. After 12-15 minute wait, the CSR recommended adjusting the carburetor set screw. Tried that. Still would not run when not on full choke. Called back. After a similar wait, the next CSR suggested that I do a carburetor adjustment. He then gave me the name of...

will not run

Bought this Spring and quit running after 2-1/2 tanks of gas. Returned and purchased another and it lasted for about 1/2 tank of gas. Seems like a carberator problem. Also machine has counter clockwise rotation which took a little getting use too.

While using first time it died and wouldn't start

While using first time after 20 min it died and wouldn't start back returned disappointed

Very Good Trimmer

Everything about this trimmer is good except the cutting head shield. The design of it needs to be improved. As it flanges out from the cutting head there is an opening in the shield which allows debris and pebbles to shoot out at the user. It's actually quite dangerous and needs to be redesigned.

Great product

Ended up buying this machine after trying to decide on switching to a 4 cycle engine or not. I bought the trimmer plus edger attachment at the same time. I don't live in a ranch by any means, but I do have a 1/3 acre corner lot which adds a fun side strip and sidewalk to also edge and maintain. This trimmer works great. Beyond Satisfied

I bought this trimmer along with the edger attachment, and was hoping that it would keep up with the Stihl FS70R that I was replacing it with. I work in building and grounds maintenance, so the products that I use need to hold up and perform. This trimmer is more than capable of doing what I need it for, trimming around 30 acres once a week and edging the walks that we have on the property bi-weekly. I took this product home and put it together without any problem. I added the gas that I purchased and immediately took it outside and worked with it. It was simple to start and use, and I look forward to using it again every week. I highly recommend this product.

So Far - So Good!

I must admit that the first day I tried using this trimmer and the edging attachment, I was really second guessing my purchase. But there were 2 things working against me that caused that first impression. I had never used a straight shaft trimmer, which has a counter-clockwise rotation and I was used to my electric trimmer which is clockwise. Buyer Beware...It'll SHOCK YOU

There is only two good points about this trimmer. The first is the Jump Start port. If you spend the extra money for the accessory it really does make starting this trimmer a little easier (you'll need it). The second positive point is the fact that it's a 2 stroke and thus revs faster and has more power than the heavier 4 strokes. With the positives points out of the way, let me get to the not so good. Poor design in power head

The trimmer worked fine last year and into the first part of this year trimming around the house. Then it started to stop spinning. Finally quit spinning. Opened up the power head and inspected the parts. Severe wear on the brass bushing, input bevel gear worn out, one ball bearing ruptured and parts inside missing, only a small amount of grease located on one side of the housing.
