Good decent trimmer

DO NOT BUY

Purchased 3 years ago . I have put 2 gear heads in at 65.00. So lets do the math, that is 130.00 in parts in 3 years. I had a stihl for 15 years never had a problem. I was in bind for a graduation. The Stihl dealer was closed for vacation. I bought this headache. If you like weed eating for 5 minutes and messing with your line because it will not feed any type of line you buy. It was easy assembly fueled it up primed it started on second crank seem to have plenty of power for tall weeds ran two tanks threw it seems to work fine I would recommend to friends

Skeptical

I went to buy a Husqvarna and got this one with a free trimmer plus brush blade Attachment used it thinking it would not stand up with my Husqvarna but I was wrong it worked great cut 2 foot tall grass like it was nothing and it starts easier than my Husqvarna love this thing

Great machine

Ran great right out of the box. Even restarted on first try. Light weight. Excellent power. Was afraid long straight shaft would bother my back, but no problems Well balanced machine. Only issue is slightly lean set carburetor. Have to buy tool from Amazon.can't find it even at Sears. Lean carb can damage engine. I don't blame Troybilt. Environmental regulations.

Lots of vibrations. The hood is too wide/big. Don't like having to squeeze safety lever to run trimmer. hated this trimmer so much that I gave it away.

I like the trimmer works great . Only thing I would change is that I wish it would turn without throtling. Other than that I really like it.

It cuts much better than the electric trimmer we have, and I like that the heads are interchangeable. I would recommend this trimmer to anyone looking to purchase a gas trimmer and would buy one myself after seeing how well it works!

Not for heavy trimming

I bought this to trim down some tall weeds that I couldn’t get to with a mower. Listed in store as heavy duty but it doesn’t do well with tall weeds. Weeds consistently got wrapped around head. The amount of debris that it throws on you is like the guard is nonexistent. Very hard to start initially out of box. Probably had to pump primer close to a total of 50 time before finally getting it started for the first time. Not too bad starting after initial. Product seems ok for light weed eating. I...

Purchased the Troy-Bilt XP straight shaft on 4/48/18 at Lowes. Followed all instructions in assembly and saw that they highly recommend the pre-mixed fuel that ends up costing about $20 per gallon. Any gasoline over 30 days old is not recommended even though I purchase non-ethanol gasoline for all my small equipment. Went back to Lowes the next day to purchase a case of the 40:1 premixed just to break the engine in right. Followed starting instruction exactly and it ran as expected for about...

Comfortable weight. Only complaint is I cannot find anything in the instructions that tells me the diameter of the line.

GREAT WEED EATER!!

After mistakingly buying the 4 stroke Troy-Bilt, which is complete JUNK!! I decided to give the XP a try, loved it! Works like it should, plenty of power, starts up great, idles properly. Hope it holds up....but at least out of the box it's leaps and bounds better than it's more expensive 4stroke piece-o-crap brother.

Buy this one

I’m not a fan of Troy Bilt equipment but I read a good review and saw the price and figured why not. I can just return it if I don’t like it. Well, I love it. Easy to start, it’s light and easy to handle. So buy a husqvarna if you want to but this one will do just as well, if not better, and you can get attachments for it. Versatility is key when buying yard equipment.

Having the four stroke before and encountering problems with it, I switched to the 2 cc and have been thrilled. You will need to adjust the idle but that is as easy as a turn off a screw. Very pleased. Highly recommend straight shaft if you're taller, curved shaft wrecks your back!..do wish it came with the harness strap tho, but the machine is so light it's not that big of a problem.
