Kitchen Island Redo!

When planning our kitchen remodel, I knew I wanted granite countertops and to paint my cabinets white. However, I really wanted to keep the warmth of wood. My existing kitchen island had no overhang and really wanted a sit in island. Lowes had the best price for butcher block in the island size. Excellent product. The wood is solid hardwoods glued together in butcher block fashion and very sturdy. Excellent to replace an island countertop. I intend to try it on all of my countertops once I confirm the stain and final finish I want. I've already installed and stained it and am in the process of finalizing the finish. Great butcher block

I've uses the 72" x 40" size as an island top, my only cutting board and as a general work surface for 5 years. I care for it regularly with Boos Block oil and it's still in perfect condition. I once got a bit carried away with a craft project and had to sand the paint and glue off to return it to it's original perfectly smooth condition but it sanded wonderfully and looked like new again. It's had 5 years of heavy use and is still looking great.

When I decided I wanted to do a farmhouse kitchen remodel, I had a very specific picture in my head of how I wanted everything to look and I was very determined that walnut butcher block countertops were what I wanted. We purchased this butcher block when it was on sale for $200. It is beautiful and I would have given it 5 stars had it not had a couple of the cracks/snagging spots in it.

It was exactly what my space needed. It was well packaged to ensure it was not damaged. It looks great!!

Beautiful top

I actually wanted it distressed and the “top” was perfect. So I flipped it over and used the bottom and still had to distress it. In the end, it’s a beautiful top.

Great piece of wood

This is a beautiful piece and it worked very well for our kitchen island project. The only reason I'm giving it four stars is that it *does* have a slight warp to the wood, and one side of it was very knotty.
