This is an absolutely beautiful piece, heavily discounted by lowes because of horrible damage during shipping (not protected at all-plastic cover!) it was a steal for me because there is always the second, pristine and more rustic side. Advice: before you buy research wood types, as birch is very difficult to stain, so if you want dark-buy walnut wood species or easier to stain oak. I am keeping mine natural color!

Butcher block

When we received our butcher block! It was in terrible condition. It still had the plastic on it. But it was ripped and where it was ripped it has notches and scratches all over it!! We did hours of work to the wood to get the counter top in some what of a decent condition.

looks great it absorbed in a bottle and a half of howard's cuttingboard oil 12oz bottle durring the 3 coats i put down and a layer of howards butcherblock conditioner to help seal it in.

Great value

Looking for something different and cost effective for new laundry room. Purchased the 6 foot piece for above washer and dryer, stained and cut to fit. Also purchased the smaller size for under mount sink in vanity. Very happy with the results, see pictures

Great product

I love our new kitchen island with this butcher block! It is wide enough to overhang the cabinets we got so two people can sit. It was easy to cut to the length needed, sand and finish. Love it! Still need to do some trim and baseboards but I am happy with this project.

Looks great!!

We used this for our island and offset the other countertops with granite. It looks great and we are pleased with the overall look. I would recommend this to anyone.

Nice countertop

I stained this countertop with Minwax and used spar urethane as a finish coat. It took the stain nicely. It is pretty heavy duty seeing as it is 2” thick. I would recommend. Seems like a quality product.

Looked around for 4 months for a new island countertop before finally deciding on the Baltic Birch butcher block. Knew it was going to look good, but wasn’t prepared fot the stunning look it gave the kitchen. Was going to cut off a good portion to fit the island with a 1½” margin all around, but the overhang was too enticing. Great place to do homework or have guest(s) sit during prep/serving. Butcher Block Island

Love it! Took about five hours from pickup to completion. Had to cut 9 inches off to be compatible with cabinets. Rounded off corners and put on three coats of Butcherblock oil. Wife loves it so I'm happy!

Loved the look after finishing with a Danish oil and beeswax. Very difficult to install a stainless steel sink because of the thickness but all is well and it came out great. High quality product.

Perfect for my kitchen island

I've never had a kitchen an island before and I decided to build one. I used this butcher block as my counter top and it is beautiful! Very heavy, very solid, and just perfect for what I had pictured in my head! I only had 2 complaints but those didn't mean it didn't deserve 5 stars! Issue 1 was that there was a gouge in the wood. That didn't bother me because I placed it in the bottom side. Issue 2 was that Lowes would not make a single cut on it for me. 6 foot was too long so I had to cut it m...

Beautiful but...

Our counter tops turned out beautiful but there was a major bend in the piece for over the island, leaving a huge gap between our new cabinent s and the butcher block. Luckily our carpenter was able to add to the underside to make it sit flat but it was still a pain to work with.

Used 2 of these sections back-to-back for my island top. They are very solid and well constructed. I lightly sanded then applied 2 coats of Danish Oil. Once dried, I applied 3 coats of acrylic poly - lightly sanding between the first and second coats. I really like the results and have received numerous compliments on the finished product.

Ah-mazing!!!

We are in the process of updating our kitchen. THIS totally has blown us away. We made a last minute decision to have our island top replaced with this butcher block and so happy that we did. We had a carpenter come out and sand and soften the edges for us. Once applied and oiled and conditioned, we were in love. I am looking forward to using this for many years to come. Get it!

Baltic butcher block top

Love this. It is exactly what I needed for a small area of my kitchen. I need to cut it down to size but will use the extra to create a cutting board. Great product! Very pleased
