Speed Square

I have owned an different model speed square for several years. It never seemed to give me a true square edge when cutting lumber. This square is simple and direct to use. Although I have not had any need for more than a 90 degree cut, this speed square comes with a manual for making more complicated cuts such are needed with rafters and trusses.

Never used one before

Purchased this while laying a new tile floor in the bathroom. We decided to put the tile on a 45 degree angle to the wall. This tool was used for marking every cut and even as a guide on the tile saw. I would have struggled much more without this tool. It was fantastic.

Best speed square

Really good quality and heavy duty and only 10 bucks way better than the cheap one i bought first that i hated

Speed Square

After not being able to find my speed square that I have had for many years, I spotted this one while I was looking for something else. The Swanson is a much better square than my previous. It is much easier to read the markings on this one and it provides many more scales.

Poor Quality

The Speed Square is out of square by 1/16" in 6 inches. Not to be used for anything where it has to be square or even close.

easy to use and simple for someone who is not so has difficult in working out angles for less than ten dollars it is a steel makes life easier

A great tool to add to anyone's tool box. Many uses for it, and there are lots of video's on line if you need any advise on how to use. It has many applications one can use it for, so watching video's gives you good ideas and how to use it. I highly recommend this product, love that it is die cast and not plastic. Should last forever, and it is not expensive.

Every DIYer or pro NEEDs this

I never realized how indispensable a speed square was to any sort of construction. It makes accurate angles and measurements a breeze! That aside, this particular brand (Swanson) is the best on the market as far as I'm concerned because it is a) metal so you can drop/abuse it with no ill-effects, b) notches for quick and accurate common measurements. Ever since buying mine I have never used another brand.

Speed Square that needs a small tweak!

I purchased this Speed Square because mine was "lost". It works fine and does what is needed...to a point. It may seem a little bit "picky" but it can be difficult to see in a bright light situation. Because of the bright metal and the lettering being not very dark, you can have trouble reading the measurements. I've seen the Stanley speed square and it is black with gold/yellow lettering...That makes that very easy to see under any conditions. This speed square would be better if the lettering ...
