I had bought a cheaper non-metal speed square and it didn't get the job done ( I will be giving it away). I researched this Swanson Speed Square and have been totally satisfied with every aspect of the quality!

Speed square

It's a speed square! It's checks square and speedy! The book that came along with it has some great quick information as well. Very sturdy not cheap. I use mine in heavy welding application and it rocks it out day after day.

Great Tool

Used with mitre saw to cut square across a door vertical wood jam that was rotted at bottom and needed replacing. It worked perfectly.

No plastic here

It is square (or at least half of one) and it is not plastic so it rates 5 stars in my book. :)

Tape Measure, Level, Pencil, & SPEED SQUARE: Needs

Tape Measure and Pencil are all I worked with...until I was tired of having things end up crooked and out of alignment. So, I added a Level. Then, I was tired of having things be aligned and having to keep "re-cutting" because of bad marking producing bad cuts...so, a SPEED SQUARE. Perfect for my uses

The following applies to my Swanson Big 12 speed square: My speed square collection have grown. Some were the inexpensive plastic type that were difficult to read. Others are metal and again they are difficult to read as the number and markings are the same color as the device. Another two is the Empire blue and and big 12" model. For me those are too shiny thus reflective making them difficult to read. This Swanson hit a happy middle ground. It does not reflect the light hitting it blinding me ...

Well Made Tool

I first encountered this speed square when helping my son build a tree house for my grandkids. My son had very few tools, but had recently purchased this speed square. As a longtime woodworker, I own a couple of other brands' speed squares, but neither measured up to the quality of the Swanson Speed Square. As soon as I got home, I bought one for my shop. The marks and numbers are much easier to read, and at my age, that's an important issue.

Swanson Speed Square

This is the best speed square out there. I couldn't find my old one so bought another one to replace it. I use it to set up my wood cuts for framing up my projects.
