I think this speed square is so well made and so useful and easy to use that my grandchildren and great grandchildren will enjoy using it as I do!

Just What I Needed

This is exactly what I was looking for! Building an addition to the garage and this has been a great purchase so far.

Excellent Tool!

I've had several of these over the past 30 plus years and recently gave my last Speed Square to my Grandson to help & encourage him in future projects. This is a great tool that makes framing and cutting plywood much easier. Take care if it & it will serve you well in your projects.

Multifunction, made in USA, rugged, 10 bucks. What more is there to say? :-)

Fine 'lines' well made (metal) and easy to use.

Assists with line/straight organizing of lumber, wall boards, wallpaper, frames, shelving, . . . in other words, if you need to set things straight and organize cuts that MUST fit perfectly - this is the item! Furthermore, though 'low' tech, the item is made in the USA - another real plus!

The Original is still the best

I recently took my Swanson Speed Square out of my pouch and put in the Empire Blue. I even wrote a positive review about the Empire.....and it is really a great square. But then....I went to trace a line at 2 inches and noticed the Empire did not have the scribing notches! I didnt even notice.....because I was so used to the Swanson.....I just took it for granted. Another good basic woodworking tool from Swanson

As an amateur woodworker (aren't we all?) who has mastered design, engineering and secure joinery, I have gradually sought to build things that are both better finished and squarer. With the latter in mind I bought a wonderful simple Swanson saw guide for cutting panels with a circular saw. More recently I bought a Simpson speed square. It's cheap, rugged, and pretty clever. One edge has a t-rail that can be aligned with the edge of a board to permit the quick mark-off of ninety and forty-five ...

Before doing some research when looking to do some fence and deck work, I had no idea this magical tool even existed. Once I started using it, I was amazed at how simple it made measuring, marking and cutting straight, squared, lines on lumber. The included instruction manual is mostly for roofing and similar tasks, and I haven't yet needed to work with angles. I'd buy it again in a heartbeat, and the only way I think I'd give it up is if I bought a larger one. Oddly, the item description her...
