What Customers Are Saying
The product is generally well-received for its secure biometric access and sturdy construction, but a recurring issue with the gas struts that help open the door has been reported by many users. This flaw can make the safe difficult or impossible to open, diminishing the overall user experience, especially in emergency situations. While some customers have found DIY solutions, the manufacturer's lack of a permanent fix has frustrated others. Overall, the product appears to be a reliable option for secure firearm storage, but users should be aware of the potential strut failure.

Would Not RecommendSafe worked good for about a year until the gas strut went bad, now barely opens. I see this is a common issue. They should find another strut and send them to customers for the price you pay for this safe.

Works well
Would RecommendI have had this safe for several years and I like the way it works, by sliding your finger over the scanner rather than having to position your finger in just the right spot on the scanner. Unfortunately the compression strut quit working so the door would barely pop up so I had to use a magnet to lift the door. That makes what should be a quick one handed operation - potentially in an emergency - into a slow 2 handed struggle. I asked Sentry Safe if a replacement strut was available and they se...

Good pistol safe with only one drawback
Would RecommendI like the biometric feature on this pistol safe. It gives security and accessibility. I've had the safe about 2 years and the only issue is the failure of the gas cylinder to open the safe more than an inch! I've seen some reviews talking about this shortcoming. I've activated this safe about 25 times total and the gas cylinder should last a lot longer than that!

Struts Wear Out
The safe became essentially useless after a couple years because the compressed gas struts no longer would open the lid. I need to use a screwdriver or knife to lift the lid open. Not a good feature if you have to access your handgun in an emergency.

Didn't work well
Would Not RecommendBought this safe for my son to store his pistol in as he has small children. I am reading all the reviews about strut failure which is the problem he has. I have been on hold for over 15 minutes with customer service where they keep telling me how important my call is while NOT ANSWERING. Doesn't not speak well for this company.

Compression Spring doesn't last
Would Not RecommendThe safe is good out of the box. The problem is the compression spring only lasts about 2 years. I have two of these and now both have the same issue, which is the door unlocks but doesn't pop open more than about a half-inch. Looking for a replacement compression spring now. I wouldn't buy it again.

Great safe and Amazing customer service
Would RecommendThe electronics and biometrics work fine. After three or four years a problem developed that when the safe is unlocked the door doesn't open. I needed to use a thin item to pry the door up so that I can manually open it the rest of the way. I contacted SentrySafe and explained the issue and asked if there was a way for me to fix it, but instead the Customer Solutions Representative said that she would send me a new piston. My expectation was that they would make a recommendation of how to fix t...

Worked, well, for a year
Would Not RecommendPunctuation is everything. This was a great safe for the first year, but like others have reported, after a year, the lid quit opening due to a failing gas strut. The biometric works well, as does electronic button access, however, it only “pops” the lock. I now have to jamb my knife between the lid and body to get the safe open. Not convenient in an emergency situation.

Too soon to tell
Would RecommendSo far I love the safe and ease of operation. Just waiting to see if I experience any of the strut issues that others have complained about. If I have no problems I would rate it a 5.

Gas strut - replaced
Would RecommendI've owned this pistol safe for 5 years, been flawless until the gas strut gave out, which results in the lid barely opening and needs to be leveraged open. This seems to be a relatively common issue. Not good when you need your gun fast. Good news is that I called customer service, they were aware of the problem and a new (improved hopefully) strut is on the way, free of charge. 5 star rating if the strut had not failed, however I would give their service support 5 stars for the replacement....

fingerprint biometrics
Would RecommendI like how easy it is to open the safe quickly with just a swipe of my finger.

Very Strong Safe
Would RecommendTook a bit of time to get the programming completed correctly and didn't understand that you have to activate the controls by touching them before you use the biometric entry. Seems strange, but understand now. For the money, very nice, heavy and secure. Wish it were manufactured in the USA though. Will be more careful next time to ensure next one is.

2 weeks new and good so far
Would RecommendCaveat. 2 weeks new so keep that in mind 2 sets of fingerprints programmed seamlessly. Safe is heavy and seems well made. I hope that has shock lasts longer than one year as others have commented. Otherwise I’m liking this purchase a lot right now. Fits a full size handgun w weapon light and spare mag easily

Easy set up
Would RecommendIt's as advertised. Very good product and would definitely recommend

Very secure
Would RecommendPerfect for my nightstand. Holds one firearm and many extra rounds. My only frustration with it is the gas strut; when the safe first opens the strut is slow to open the door. In an emergency I could see this being a potential hazard. If the strut were quicker in action this would be 5 stars.

First gun safe
Would RecommendI selected this gun safe for my very first gun purchase based on being a top 10 rated safe and value for the money. Was easy to set up. It opens as quickly as advertised, but it doesn’t pop open fully. This is my only minor complaint
