Gas strut no longer works

Nice safe, can't open it without prying it open. The gas strut is too weak

5 stars until the strut goes bad, then useless

Strut piston goes bad, then lid doesn’t open at all. Useless for its intended purpose.

Compact and convenient.

It is the perfect size and like the option of two fingerprints for two different people, the 4-digit entry code option and the key for a backup in case the battery dies. But the door assist compressed piston strut failed sooner than I thought. :-(

Simple set up and operation. Fits the space well.

The directions to set up the code and biometrics were well written and easy to follow. The SentrySafe fit the allotted space well. I requested a new opening strut, as the safe I purchased was older and the strut would not fully open the top. The newly designed strut was shipped out that day. I like the ease of immediate and silent access to my conceal and carry gun.

Struts failed on all my units - lid won't open

This safe is a great idea and the lock seems to be of reasonable quality. I have not heard of anyone who has been able to open this safe easily. No problems with the biometrics either. However, the gas strut has failed on all the units I own. The lid will no longer open by itself, essentially rendering the "quick access" safe useless. Not good if you're in a situation where you need to access your weapon quickly. This issue has plagued SentrySafe for close to a decade, and yet recent buye...

Great safe until spring gave out

The safe is heavy duty and great for quick access - problem is poor quality spring strut so it won’t open anymore. Worst part is customer no- service. Just like others Sentry ignores their customers emails for help on this simple fix. Would buy another unit but turned off by their lack of concern

Strut Fails After 2 Years.

When the safe works, it works great. However, the door strut fails after approximately 2 years and the door will not spring open. There is no manufacturer fix for this. Basically, you can add a longer spring to the strut on your own or buy a new safe.

I truly love my safe. I really love the fingerprint opening, but it will not open any more. I have to take a magnet to lift open the lid. I sent a email last week abb no d still haven’t heard back from anyone.

Perfect size and quick access

Awesome security options for easy access and very easy to set up. My only complaint is the Hydraulic shock does not open the door all the way.

Bad Struts - Don't buy

Just as the review by Bryl stated, I have experienced the same strut issue. Please see Bryl's comment below: "bought 3 of these safes for my pistols and they worked Great for 1 year. Then the door struts (what flips door open) went bad on all 3 units in about 1 1/2 years. The 1 year Warranty expired, so I have 3 useless safes now. gas strut failed

safe was great first year, really liked it worked well, then gas strut failed rendering it useless as the lid will not open easily

Great Biometric safe but poor opening piston

This safe was given to me as a Christmas gift about 2 1/2 years ago. It works great except the opening piston barely opens the door now. I have another safe I keep my carry gun in so this one only gets opened every couple weeks.

Very Nice Pistol Safe.....With a Common Problem

I got this safe about 5 years ago for a quick-access way to keep a firearm secure but handy. Build quality is sturdy and well-made. The biometric lock was easy to program and works flawlessly. Strut stopped working so now safe is useless

The safe no longer works properly and doesn’t pop open. This happened about a year after having it. So sad as I really like the safe. Is there a way to repair or replacement part? Seems like we got a faulty safe.

Decent Safe, but Piston breaks quickly

The safe works fine for a while, but the piston gives out relatively quickly. It makes it hard to get into the safe and impossible to get in quickly, which defeats the purpose of spending the extra money to get the biometric safe.
