LID WON'T STAY CLOSED

We bought this trash can about three months ago and from day one we have been having issues with the lid staying shut. It doesn't matter if you push it gently or slam it shut, it will not stay shut. Biggest waste of money ever.

lid won't stay down

I bought one of the spring top lid trash cans with a stainless steel handle. Loved the look of it so that's why I picked it. Have only had it a month and the lid won't stay down. I like a trash can with a lid to hide the trash....well the lid don't stay down so I guess I should have bought the cheaper one without a lid. I do like the bag locking though....

Have 3, buying more!

Love these liner lock trash cans, we have 3 now, lost one of the springs, so I am looking to buy another one but cannot remember where we bought them, so here I am doing some research to see who carries, and who has the best deal

Good trash can

I've bought two of these over the years and really like them. I like that they lock the top of the trash bag in place and the lid locks just by pushing it down.

Love it!!

Had it for almost 2 years! I love it. Best plastic kitchen garbage can I have owned.

Terrible Lid

I bought this product a few months ago, thinking it would be really good. I was completely wrong. This spring top lid does not stay. Every time I close it it opens back up. It has not stood up to regular use. I'm very disappointed in the trash can because of this. I don't want to smell the trash and that is why I purchased this particular trash can and because Rubbermaid is supposed to be a good product.

Don't buy

I bought the black spring top waste can (large) w/ liner lock handle. This handle is silver. From the day we bought this, it never stays closed. The lip that's supposed to hold it closed is so thin in width that the lid pops open all the time. It's rarely closed. I don't recommend this can at all.

Lid wont stay closed

Same problem as every one else lid won't stay closed. Took advice from Eileen and fixed the lid by taking out one spring. The lid stays closed now but have to manually open it.

Frustrating lid

We've bought 3 of these garbage cans in the past month, and all of the lids won't stay closed. This poses a problem with pets. Very frustrating to try to close it and it pops right back up.

Terrible!

I bought TWO of these garbage cans - one for recycle and one for garbage - NEITHER of them will stay closed all the time! Like others, I have to keep something heavy on the lid to keep it from popping open and wafting garbage smell into my Kitchen. I wish I had read the reviews before I purchased! I also can't find a garbage bag to fit 45L properly - I can only find 42.5L or 70L.

Don't waste your money unless you want an open gar

We bought this two months ago and the constant use a family of four gives this can, the lid no longer 'locks' down. We have to put something on top of the lid to keep it down. the "spring" action wears out quickly unless you are living alone and use this once a week. It's certainly not made for multiple daily use for a family.

This product is GARBAGE!!

Within hours this garbage can failed! The lid does not stay closed no matter how we arrange the bag! So frustrating! I called the service number on this website and they are going to mail me a voucher for replacement cost! Get your money back and do the same!

rubbermaid touch top

I was given this trash can last December and it has been a daily aggravation. The top will NOT stay closed. I close it every time I walk by it.

I usually love Rubbermaid products and was excited to see this spring top trash can in a good kitchen size at my local store. I didn't really care about the liner lock but thought I'd give it a try; my old can needing retiring. Not even on day 1, would this top stay closed. Top won't stayed closed

I'm disappointed with this product because after having used it for (1) one month the spring top would not stayed latched. While it does hold the garbage bag securely the aggravation of having to put an old phone book on top of it to keep it closed negates the good features.

3 Years Old

I absolutely love this trash can, as crazy as it sounds. It has been the only trash can that we have been able to find to keep our German Shepherd out of. Overall, the design is great. It finally broke the other day. The only downfall is that I haven't been able to locate another one like it.

Throw out the trash can!

We bought this trash can thinking with the lid and bag holder design it would be ideal for our family. HOLY POP TOP BATMAN! This trash can became our worst kitchen nightmare. The lid would NOT stay closed at all. My husband got so frustrated with it today he threw the can out with the trash!

Lid won't stay closed!

Very sleek and nice looking, but terrible design on the lid. Within days it just kept popping up on its own! Very frustrating when you have little ones around! Extremely disappointed!
