Won't stay closed

Very poor latch, will not stay closed. I use them outside so everything is usually wet.

Piece of junk

We bought this trash can to replace the one we had that was similar and had for 7 years. We've had this one for a few months and it is theee biggest piece of junk ever. Worst garbage can i ever buyed.

Lid does not stay latched. Very poor design. Save yourself alot of time and money on this one. In my opinion it should be thrown in a good garbage can.

What a piece of Awful Engineering...............

It took several attempts to latch lid closed when new. After a few weeks the lid will not stay latched closed at all.

Frustrating and annoying!

I bought this garbage can a month ago, and the lid never wants to stay shut.

My problem is the opposite.... lid won't open

Mechanism worked fine in the store but the minute I got home, it won't open. Went to the website and read all of these reports and now will return for a full refund not just make an exchange.

Would be great...if it stayed shut!

I love the size and clean look of this trash can, and the way it is supposed to stay closed....but it doesn't! Sometimes you have to push it shut several times to get it to stay shut, but the second you turn around to walk away it pops back open. We just have to leave it open because it's pointless wasting time trying to get it to shut now. It's frustrating because the idea is so great, but it just doesn't work. Rubbermaid used to be so much better quality.

Won't stay shut

The desciption says easy to open and east to shut. Well, it's so east to open it opens itself. We gave up on trying to keep it shut. Bad design and waste of money.

Lid works fine

I owned this trash can for 7 years without any issues with the lid not staying closed. If the can got overfilled with a lot of weight, the lid would sometimes struggle but that was very few and far between. The latch actually finally broke after all these years and I was looking for a replacement because I like the can so much. I don't have to mess with a pedal to open the can and the lid stays clean unlike the flip top style cans. I wish I could just get a replacement lid so I wouldn't have to ...

Terrible!!

I should have went on this website and read some reviews before purchasing. Just like almost every other post the lid on this can DOES NOT STAY CLOSED!!! The minute you walk away it pops right open and thats only after about a week. I would return but did not keep receipt. Very surprising for Rubbermaid!!

Do Not Purchase

I bought this about a month ago. The first two weeks were fine. I loved it. Now the lid does not stay closed. Most of the time as soon as you close it it pops right open. I have to keep something on top of it to keep it closed

"Trashy can"

Perfect size but lid it no good as will not stay closed. Last for less than month.

Don't Buy One!

We have had this can for less than a week and I will be replacing it today! The lid did not stay shut for more than the first day. kind of inconvenient when you have a toddler in the house.

Will not stay closed!

My husband bought this for me because my dog is always getting in the trash. He thought he solved the problem but after day ONE of having it, it will not stay shut. Waste of money!!! Now I have to spend even more to get another one!

Junk

I bought a premium touch top because of the name Rubbermaid. The lid will not stay down. The 13 Gallon bags do not fit

Owned for over 3 years, no major problems.

This sturdy waste can is durable. I have never had any problems with the lid staying shut, not once. The lid is tight and seals in odors and cosmetically, it gives you the ability to not see your refuse. The only problem I have is that one of the springs that holds the bag in, loosens from its holes.

Discussed with this thing. It is impossible to keep closed. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

Pain on the neck

This does not stay closed. It keeps on opening. When I got it home I thought it can be fixed. I tried to fix it by putting something heavy on top to keep it closed all the time. It did not fix the problem.

I wish a Rubbermaid paid me for the amount.....

Lid won't stay closed

Had my last Rubbermaid can for over 20 years so purchased a new one. This lid style was different but I liked the look of the can. Has a silver/stainless look handle. However the lid began popping open after only a few weeks. Usually have to place something on top to keep closed. Disappointed in quality.
