I came to this web site today to complain about the Touch Top 11 gallon trash can we purchased maybe three years ago, because the lid on it will not stay latched closed regardless of how much trash has been placed into the can. I presume this product is a replacement for the apparently now discontinued Touch Top product, and based on other reviews it sadly appears this is no better engineered and manufactured than the older ones. Lid will not stay closed. Poor quality. Had less then a year.

Extremely Disappointed

Bought this garbage can a couple of weeks ago, and already the lid won't stay closed. I bought it because of the very happy performance of Rubbermaid bins, but now, after only a few short weeks, I have to go out and find another garbage can. Very frustrated.

lid won't stay closed!

I have had two of these trash cans in my home and the lid didn't stay closed on either one. Did not last long at all! I don't even know which can will with the spring top or liner holder will even work. After reading the reviews on other ones, it doesn't look promising. Maybe another mfr.?

Disappointed

I bought this can for my 85 year old in laws because of the tap open lid. It will not stay closed. Very disappointing.

basket top

have not had a lid problem but the assembly does not stay together until there's enough trash in the bag to hold the top down could use some type of snap fit over the lip of the basket to keep it together

Loved Rubbermaid until I bought this

First of all the lid does not like stay closed, keeps popping open. Recently one of the springs that open the lid broke and now the won't open. I'm very disappointed, won't buy another rubber maid product.

Best Kitchen Can I've Ever Owned

I bought this about six weeks ago and absolutely love it! The liner lock keeps the bag flush to the sides of the can, so no trash "leaks" down the sides into the can - I've emptied it at least half a dozen times and the inside still looks brand new! This has the added bonus of completely using the entire bag while it's in the can, so no more taking a bag out and then having to scramble to find trash to fill the empty space - when the can is full, the bag is full! I admit to having some trepidat...

Doesn't stay closed

I originally loved the way that the top had a latch too close because usually when you have one with a foot pedal, the pedal will eventually disconnect. However the lid no longer stays close and needs some kind of weight to keep it down. I'm looking online to see if I can just purchase a replacement lid and I'm having no luck.

Waste of money!!!!

I love Rubbermaid, so I bought this a month ago and like the other reviews. I wish I had read these before I purchased it. The lid will not stay closed. Very, very sorry it was a waste of money. Now I need to buy a new waste can again. Sorry It will not be a Rubbermaid.

Poor Latch Design

I bought this style can because I liked the lid design. Now my wife hates it BECAUSE of the lid design and the fact it will never stay closed!

Don't waste your money

The first trash can I bought broke on the way home from the store... that should have been my first clue. I still had the receipt so was able to exchange it for a new one. Less than a month later the second one is broken - the lid no longer stays closed. Very disappointed.

Never had problems with Rubbermaid products before,but this one is one of poor design (and looking at other comments,it looks like I'm not the only one that thinks so) You try it at the store,it's all fine.You come home and start putting garbage in it,and the lid pops open on its own constantly !!! VERY DISAPPOINTED!!!

Have always loved Rubbermaid products but this touch top garbage can is very disappointing! The lid would stay closed in the store but when I got it home and started putting garbage into it the lid would not stay closed even if I tried to manually push the tab over the lid, it would pop open.

Won't Stay Closed!

I bought this garbage can to use in my kitchen about a month & a half ago. I needed a larger can to accommodate big bags. For the first month it was great but now the lid won't stay closed & I have to put something heavy on top of it in order to keep it closed. It was a huge waste of money!

it wont stay shut

I bought 2 of these can about 2 months ago. 1 for recyclables and 1 for garbage. 1can wont shut at all anymore and the other one pops open ... this was a big waste of money!

Poor

The lid seemed fine for approx the first two months and from now on it will not stay closed. The liner rim seems to be the problem and is unfixable. will not but another like this and maybe not a rubbermade produce again.
