Lots of waste

They'll work in general but you get lots of unusable shingles. As others have said here, plan to buy lots extra. Needed about 1/3 more than expected in total.

I bought these to use as shingles for the roof of an outdoor shower. Worked out great! Longevity may not be that good for a roof. We’ll see. Several shingles had knot holes in them, but since I was using it for a rustique outdoor shower, it didn’t matter to me.

Mostly culls and modest coverage

For the price, I didn't expect premium shakes (they're OK for outdoor sheds, etc), and in fact I think they're just banded culls, but I was disappointed with the coverage. Even at 5' 5/8" vertical spacing, three bundles only covered a 1/2 square. so, plan on 3X price on your budget line for shake coverage. Expensive kindling.

Barely OK.

Lot’s of unusable waste. It’s kind of a shame. Each bundle doesn’t come close to covering as much area as they claim. You’ll likely need to buy 2x or 3x more than you might think.

Not even close

Lowes misrepresents these shingles square feet per bundle. They are telling their customers 50 sq feet bundle. You will get about 15.5 sq feet with a 5.5 refill. They don't count having to double up on the starter roll.

I bought 8 bundles and only 60% was usable from most bundles. one of the bundle was so bad only about 25% was usable

WHAT YOU REALLY GET!!!

I only will do a product review if I think a potential customer will be disappointed in the product and regret ever purchasing it. This case warrants a full billboard and warning labels. For starters the majority of these bundled shingles are complete CULLS, not 3&4 according to ANSI (American Standards) and CSSB (Cedar Shake & Shingle Bureau) grading standards. Because of the NAFTA agreement, we are obligated to accept CSA (Canadian Standards) which runs at least a grade inferior to our grading...

a great makeover

I just whitewashed our brick and thought these would look nice covering our existing siding in the eaves above the brick. I was correct. It is beautiful. These shingles are pretty nice, some packs had too many narrow pieces versus the wide and a few pieces were not useable due to holes or rips. But, all in all, I was very pleased with these.

Good product, put not what we needed.

Good product if you want cedar shingle, we wanted cedar shakes look on our gable and went with plastic hand-cut look shakes instead from ABC Supply.

Beautiful accent. Some in consistencies.

I used these to shingle the roof of a 140 year old barn/shed. I love the look, and the price wasn't too bad. I did have to square up about 10% of them for a better fit.

Ok but not so great

I found that a large part of each bundle was not useable due to holes, knots and cracks. It was also interesting to see that the package label said “only for use on unoccupied buildings”. That was not specified on the item listing. Since I was only replacing a small area of shingles, I was able to work with them but I’d make a different choice and f I had to do it again.
