Real help for the novice

I have never installed crown molding before and I was quite nervous about cutting both inside and outside corners. The Crown Molding Cutting Guide and the associated videos were very helpful in doing the job right. A couple of things you need to know... the guide will raise the lower end of the work toward the blade of the saw. Really takes the confusion out of "inside/outside rights and lefts" out of cutting crown. Instructions were more than just "how to". I now have a better understanding of wall angles and such. Pretty good if you've never done crown

Never even took it out of the box. Bought a Kobalt 12" double bevel miter saw which comes with crown stops and does so many things it's my go to tool.

Time and money saver

Don't attempt to do crown molding without it. It saved my husband and me time and money by using it. The only thing we found difficult to understand were the signs in the jig ("inner left corner", "inner right corner" etc.), but with a little common sense, we managed, and completed our project successfully. Note: This was out first experience doing crown molding. My husband and I wasted a whole crown-molding with trial and error ($26 worth) before we decided to buy this jig.

I wouldn't attempt crown molding without this tool

The Kreg tool was a godsend for my first attempt at installing crown molding. The instructions were pretty clear, and helpful. My molding measurement with the included protractor gave me the same angles as the example, and my walls were all 90 degrees, so I didn't have to do any detailed tweaking. The only problem I had, was that my 40 year old Craftsman overhead saw has an extremely small level table available to the left of the blade when the blade is set to the leftward 45 degree setting. Tried to cut crown without a crown pro and ended up redoing the whole room. The crown pro made cutting my crown corners an ease.

Wouldn't attempt to hang crown molding without it.

This tool was so simple to use, that I'll never attempt to hang crown without it again. It comes with everything you need, just find the angle of the crown, set it on the miter saw and cut away. No more guessing and calculating compound angles on the miter saw.

Makes the job of cutting crown easy, speedy and perfect every time. Don't over think it, just follow the directions CAREFULLY AND FULLY.

Make sure you do test cuts first

Depending on the size of crown you are working with make sure this will work for you, also for long sections make sure you have a second pair of hands helping keep it flush with the mitre saws fence, it likes to slip around and I can't imagine cutting molding solo with just this. I was cutting 5 1/2 which the kreg's tool does accomodate for, the reason why I'm suggesting doing a test cut is that I am using the kobalt 10" compound mitre saw. Cheap Plastic BUT It works

I bought this to do my first crown molding project. It worked. The value to this product is that they tell you how to place and cut crown molding. It holds the molding at the correct angle for the cuts. It is made from cheap, really cheap plastic. This whole thing must have cost about $!.98 to manufacture. But it you are a rookie with crown molding and your miter saw doest have a high fence, you need some type of guide. I know that I could have built a guide but this took a lot of guess work out...

Takes the brain surgery out of crown molding

I am semi good DIY. Crown Molding has always been mindboggling for me. After screwing up 2 pieces, using the instructions with my saw, I bought this for 30 bucks. Worth every penny. If you take your time and follow the instructions, its a jewel. Some Advice: 1) Keep the box and never lose the instruction booklet. 2)All cuts are made with the top edge down. Best $29 I've spent!

I consider myself an experienced remodeler. I own several compound miter saws and have tried to install crown with them in the past on several kitchen remodels, and was very frustrated with miss cuts and wasted expensive crown molding. This thing saved me a ton of time. I loved using it. No need for a coupound miter saw.

Not as good as it appears to be

Everything on this gage is plastic, including the spring angle gage. This unit is difficult to get on the same cutting level as your saw bed. Lots of shimming or fabricating for a workable surface, I thought this unit would be more readilly usable than it was. The work stock does tend to move around on gage, especially if you are doing large molding. Clamping stock to gage is necessary,It proved to be too much hassel for the money. Ed N.
