What Customers Are Saying

The pouring shield for the stand mixer appears to have significant design flaws, as it frequently falls off the bowl or fails to fully cover the pouring area. Many users report having to hold the shield in place while mixing, negating its intended purpose. The shield also does not seem to effectively contain spills and splatters, allowing ingredients to still make a mess. Overall, the consensus is that this accessory is poorly designed and does not function as intended.

Does not fit

I bought the mixer a month ago after wanting one for years. I had an old sunbeam mixer that was about 35 years old and still worked good. When I went to make frosting the powdered sugar went everywhere. The shield would not stay in place and kept nothing in. What a disappointment! I thought I had a bad shield until I read the reviews. Whoever designed this shield must have never tested it because it is worthless. Hope the mixer is better than the shield.

totally cheap product

Would Not Recommend

kitchenaid really cheaped out on making this pouring shield. It does not click into place and it is cheap and flimsy plastic. It keeps falling into by bowl while mixing. This is very disappointing seeing how much the professional series mixer costs.

Not worth a 1 star rating

This came with my new mixer, it continually would bounce into the mixer while trying mix ingredients. The shield that I bought for my first mixer went all around the bowl, but it was for the smaller classic mixer and won't work on the 5 qt. classic mixer and the rim sits to high for the head of the mixer to sit down in place. I called customer service and they sent a new pouring shield, same design, it has the same problem. Plus the open area allows flour and other ingredients to bounce right...

Pouring Shield

Would Not Recommend

Received my new KitchenAid Artisan this past week and excited and pleased to use it. The Pouring Shield however does not fit well on the bowl. After reviewing the manual and several online sites for correct placement I have determined the Pouring Shield just does not fit. After placing on the bowl, it pops up unless manual pressure is kept on one side of the shield.

Pouring Shield Doesn't Fit

Would Not Recommend

Just opened my new KitchenAid mixer, which came with a stainless steel bowl and plastic pouring shield. The pouring shield does not fit the bowl at all! It is slightly warped and too large; it won't snap on or even just sit straight. I can't imagine how it will be useful.

Doesn’t fit bowls

Would Not Recommend

I have had the same experience as most of the people posting. I wish I had read these before purchasing this. It does not fit any bowls I use with the mixer. Terrible product, I expected more from this company seeing as though I’ve had great experiences with the rest of the attachments I’ve purchased.

Cheap and flimsy

Would Not Recommend

Just received my new Kitchenaid, Professional Series (600), and I am horribly dismayed by this pouring shield. How is it even possible that KitchenAid designed such a lousy piece of equipment, something that is so needed. For the record, we own a restaurant and have used Kitchenaids in our kitchen for many years. This is the worst design I have seen yet. I guess I'm back to the towel over my machine..... Wishing a bit that I had explored other mixer options.

Doesn't stay on

Would Not Recommend

I was so excited to use this product with my new KitchenAid mixer, but it doesn't stay on the bowl!! The plastic is flimsy and slightly curved, which probably wouldn't be a huge deal if there were a somewhat secure latch system or something to keep the shield in place. But, there isn't. There are a three very small and short tabs that would rest outside of the bowl if the shield were actually flat, but I highly doubt they would do much of anything even if that were the case. VERY DISAPPOINTING!

Shield doesn’t “click” on

Would Not Recommend

I have had my kitchen aid stand mixer last Christmas & am very disappointed in the shield. It does not snap on at all. It slides off as soon as I start the mixer. Very flimsy & basically unusable. My “star” ratings are for the shield only. I am however very pleased with the mixer itself.

I just got my kitchen aid mixer, first one I’ve ever had, I’m 82 years young. I was making a pumpkin pie and put ingredients in mixer, turned it on slow the shield kept falling off, splattered all over, had quite a mess. Really disappointed!

Doesn’t work well

Would Not Recommend

My husband bought me a 6 quart kitchenaid mixer for my birthday. It came with this pouring shield. I used it for the first time yesterday. I’ve read these reviews and I’m surprised that no changes have been made to the design of this pouring shield. It does not work! I need a lid that keeps the ingredients contained. Seems reasonable for the price and simple fact it’s a kitchenaid.

Utterly awful in every way

Would Not Recommend

This is a complete and utter disappointment. One star implies it has some utility - if zero stars were available that is the number it deserves. It doesn't actually fit around the top of the bowl to prevent spillage (there is about a 1/2 to 3/4 inch gap all around), so as soon as you mix anything like flour it spreads around the kitchen like a dust bowl. Literally. I can scarcely conceive of a worse product and have no idea why they thought it would be a good idea to leave a massive gap in a spi...

Horrible

Would Not Recommend

My husband surprised me with a Kitchenaid shortly after we were married & I loved it! We recently bought a new (to us) house across the country. We had 2 homes while we were working on both and I missed my mixer! Sweetie surprised me with another, so I let my daughter's have my old one. I want to trade! My old mixer had a pour shield that FIT. This new one simply does NOT. It's like they made a shield for a 3 quart and said, "close enough". And the worst part? THEY KNOW IT DOESN'T FIT BUT WON'T ...

What a waste

Would Not Recommend

This could be a great idea if the dry ingredients didn't go flying out of the open areas! I love my Kitchen Aid but only used this shield a few times. I was getting tired of cleaning the flour off the counters and floor! For the price, it should work 100% better than it does.

Utterly useless

Would Not Recommend

This piece came with the stand mixer I recently purchased, and it is beyond unhelpful. It pops off the bowl if you look at it wrong, never mind touching it with a grain of flour or whatever else you might want to get into the bowl. It's certainly sturdy - it once got stuck between the bowl and the paddle as a result of its abysmal design, and not only didn't break, but didn't even show any stress where it had fallen in - but durability doesn't really matter if the piece serves no purpose but...

splatter shield

I have wanted a kitchen aid stand mixer for years. I finally purchased one. Love the mixer but absolutely hate how the flour flies everywhere, even on the lowest speed. Takes so much pleasure out of the baking experience. Kitchen aid should correct this major flaw.

AWFUL!

Would Not Recommend

Don't waste your time or money on his item. It is a poor design and falls into or off of the bowl when mixing. Don't get me started about when you use it to add flour. Just let me say you will be cleaning up for a while. I can not believe with all the bad reviews, that this product is even available.

Poor Design

Would Not Recommend

This is a very poor design it will not stay on the bowl unless you hold it on. I was looking for one since I used one on an older model and it had a two piece that worked great. I am very disappointed with this one. Do not buy.
