What Customers Are Saying
The product had mixed reviews. Some found it effective for accurately marking and drilling holes, with helpful templates and guides. However, many reported issues with the poor quality and durability of the plastic components, such as the guide and jig twisting or breaking. While the hole saws themselves performed well, the problems with the plastic parts were a significant drawback for some customers.

Would RecommendNot as good as the dewalt kit but it did its job. Pieces are plastic and not metal and if youre not careful while drilling, you’ll shave some plastic off from the double sided jig. Make sure you screw off the threaded adapter on the mandrell so it fits the big hole saw. Other than that, I drilled out 4 doors and they came out great. Just have some patience. Bolt plate template is crappy cause its plastic. But trace out the opening and chisel it.
Junk
Would Not RecommendBought this to make hole on older door in my house. It is junk, does not stay in place and plastic gets cut by blade. Don't buy.
They didn't quite thing this thing through
Would Not RecommendFirst - the kit is very useful for putting the doorknob hole in a door. However, they either should have made the threaded hole in the two hole saws common, or they should have provided a second mandrel that fit the smaller hole saw. An alternative is just to use something like a (separate) 13/16 or 7/8 wood-boring bit. Note to, that while the template and router-like bit will help you define the inset for the plate attached to the bolt assembly of a doorknob kit, you will still need a router...
Junk
Would Not RecommendFirst time use and it broke. Dont waste your money.
Mandrel does not fit
Would Not RecommendThe man rule does not even screw into the small hole saw. A smaller-diameter man rule is needed at the threads. Looks like $17 bucks was a waste.
Don’t use this if you are not a carpenter
Would RecommendBlaming the 15$ product and having none or almost no experience it’s just not correct. This plastic has not been made to hold bimetal blade but to show you where you should drill. Take jig, set depth 3/4 or 3/8 (check if your door knobs are adjustable), take pen and mark your circle and drill it.
Wonderful product. I had a deadbolt to install on a door that already had one on it, only it used a 1 1/2" hole and the new deadbolt was a 2" hole. I was able to secure this device to the door and use the hole saw to enlarge it to 2". Well worth the cost.

Follow directions
I don't believe it's hard to use, but when your father in law decides to install your new door for you while you are at work, sometimes you end up with 2 doorknob holes because the first one was in the wrong spot. Just saying.

If you have a hallow door....
Would RecommendWorks as described. Good tool for the basic homeowner’s needs. Please note, if you are using this to cut a hole for a door knob in a hallow door, start on one side of the door. When you get to the other side, stop just before you cut through to the outter surface and back out. Then start from the other side of the door and repeat this process. This will help prevent splitting the thin outter layer of a hallow door.

Terrible
The plastic is too flimsy! It broke and the jig would not stay still!
The jig for doing the hole was fine. But the template for the striker plate was plastic. It wore off after the first use. The 2 1/8 saw auger was pressed in crooked so the saw blade couldn't go straight...it was wobbling. The tip of the drill bit for the striker plate broke off before I even finished the first door.

The hinge template was not useful for me mainly because I used larger hinges. The template for the latch was also not helpful. The guide for drilling the lock and latch were great and helped me make the perfect holes

Did exactly what it was supposed to.
Would RecommendI'm not sure why all the bad reviews. I purchased this as a one time use, not for production work, and for about half the price of the DeWalt kit. I only needed to install one deadbolt in a wooden door. The depth from frame was easy to set. The jig was held secure by two screws which left holes needed to mount the deadbolt hardware in anyway. The wobbly pilot bit was taken care of by readjusting the set screw and making sure it was on the drill bit flat. The hole saws cut as clean as any hole sa...
An Adequate Door-boring kit
Would RecommendI bought this Irwin kit because I had one previously and drilled about 30 doors and it was easy to use. I had to use it to bore a lock set hole on a mobile home door. The door had a hole that was smaller than 2 1/8 inch and needed redrilled larger. The door jig did the job but stressed the plastic so terribly as to make it unserviceable. So I bought another to use on any other doors in the future.

Works perfectly. Adjustable door knob depth. Even routes out for striker. comes with plate for routing hinges but haven't tried yet.
The jig & bit worked great on the holes. The router bit for the plates is not real easy to use.

Worked great!
Would RecommendWorked great, BUT over time it seem like the "bolt plate template" could wear out and loose its shape over time. VERY easy to use.
