This was a waste of money -- I opened the package and used it -- should just throw it away now -- would not cut the door

Gets the job done.

Would have been better if it was metal. I am installing a lot of doors and will needs to buy a few of these kits as they are not very durable. Even industrial foam would have been better and more rigid. That said - they work great.

Fine for a door or two.

Don't buy this if you need to do more than a couple doors. The cheap plastic construction makes the jig flimsy and easy to bend which can move it out of alignment very easily. The mandrel for the hole saws would not unscrew from the 2 1/8" hole saw even after I had it in a vice and used a wrench on it. I eventually had to go buy a separate 1" hole saw to finish the job. The design is well thought out and manufactured to make the work quick and easy. Just make the right placement and the rest is easy!

No Door Knob Strike Plate Template

Very disappointming that the design and engineering team did not consider the door jamb as a very important component of a door. So why leave out the strike plate template out? I also agree with the other reviews about the latch plated template being made cheaply.

Good tool

very difficult to remove the first hole saw from the bit to switch to the smaller hole saw. Otherwise, worked perfectly, and the deadbolt fit properly after the drilling was complete.

Don't waste your money!

Worst tool purchase ever. Broke in minutes after using it for the first time. Other products available but one of those instead.

Worked like promised. I only had to drill one metal door so I do not know how this product would hold up given that it is plastic..

Excellent Kit

This little kit worked perfectly. Buying the kit was cheaper than buying the two drill bits/saws for the lockset hole and the latch hole, and the guide made it easy to drill the holes in the right place. It includes a guide to bore out the area to install the latch hole bracket and another guide for the hinge bracket.

Flimsy Guide, Mandrel Doesn't Fit 1" Hole Saw

The title says it all. I'm surprised the plastic guide didn't break after my first use. The mandrel didn't fit the 1" inch hole saw so after about 15 minutes of fussing with it, I decided to check the reviews to see if I was doing anything wrong. Nope, this is a common problem. Returning this product for a higher quality product.

You Get What You Pay For

There's a reason why this is $19.00. Absolutely worthless. You'd be better off laying out the holes and drilling them manually. Relying on this cheap flimsy plastic piece of junk nearly ruined a $200.00 door.

plastic lock plate lasts for 1 door, router bit fell apart after 1 use. jig for 1" hole was offcenter, hole saws were dull after 2 doors. Nice to see my previous review was deleted by IRWIN.

Cheaper than a locksmith, but not durable at all

I bought this to install a deadbolt on a door. I am not an expert, but not a hack with tools either. The center drill on the bi-metal hole saw wouldn't remove from the larger hole saw, and the teeth on it became bent going through a polycarbonate and wood door. I had to remove it and use my Kobalt hole saw, which worked fine. Also, the jig twisted easily and got a bit beat up. It wouldn't hold in place, so I had to work with that. Finally, I had to use a spade bit instead of the smaller hole saw...

Worst tool ever!

This was the worst tool I ever used. It broke within three minutes of using it, so that was $20.00 shot. I was very disappointed in it!!

wonderful invention! It made it so much easier to put a new dead bolt lock in- no measuring just put the template on the door and cut your hole. Great product,saves a lot of time and frustration.
