So far so good

Got it out to the deer lease this weekend and ran it for 48 hours straight at less than half load. It didn't do to bad on gas with that load. I left it in the back of my truck and let it get rained on Monday and Tuesday and started it Tuesday night and she fired up easy and ran like a champ connected to my air compressor for a load. the true test is to see if it makes it thru the entire deer season. I'm expecting to have over 500 hours on this unit before 1/1/15. I'll let y'all know. I can't say...

Covered all the bases

Purchased this product as a temporary power source for our camper during construction of our home. This unit handled the campers electrical demands easily and provided power for construction tools as well. Wish I would have done my research a little better

The XT series is only carried at lowes. Generac does not even carry this model. I am having trouble finding parts for this and locating a service manual. I did have it started and it seemed to run fine. I think it will work fine. Just wish parts were easy to find.

Keeps Breaking - Not even used for an emergency yet!

This is an excelent generator!

After I got the generator home and put the wheels etc. on it I fueled it added the included oil and it started with no issues. It does have a battery charger with it but the factory charge was good. I went ahead and charged it for 24 hours after the initial run. It does not charge its own battery unless you plug the charger into the generator. This Generator powers my entire 3500 sq. foot house. After a year of research I found the Generac 10,000watt unit would do everything. I've backed up my house, my shop, my welder, freezers, and had power to spare. Why spend more on another brand, and get less functionality? I'd buy it again.

Excellent portable generator for medium to large house

I purchased the generator to be an emergency backup generator for a 3000 sq ft house with 1.5 hp well pump, electric water heater, 3 ton ac, gas furnace, 2 refrigerators, and other misc loads. I have only run it for testing but find that using the 50 amp plug wired through a disconnect allows me to run pretty much what I want. Missing parts curbs my enthusiasm

We wanted to be prepared for a major ice storm that was forecast for our area. After much research and days of looking at generators, I chose this Generac model. I was excited to get it all put together and try this thing out before we actually need it. We live an hour away from the nearest Lowes store. Difficultly accessing air filter, gas line, and winter/summer lever

I want to be clear that I probably am my own worst enemy for the trouble I am having trying to start this unit for the first time. It was delivered to my this past July and I stored it in my climate-controlled garage for 6 months before I decided to put fuel/oil in it and fire it up. Needed for a Power Outage

I was looking for a decent generator with ample power available after a recent power outage in PA. I saw this generator on the website and bought it in the store. This generator comes with a 30 AMP 240 VAC power cord that splits into 4 separate 120 VAC plugs for balanced loading. It was a good thing too. Good Purchase

Only thing I would have liked to seen was a break in period on the oil sent with the generator. Looks are good, design is great. easy to use.

Initial impressions

Decent documentation and seems well built. The manual choke was a bit of a let down, I'd have paid a couple more bucks for an auto choke which would make it easier for all family members to start. The starter switch or starter relay on mine is intermittent and requires some fiddling with the switch to get it to crank the starter.

Disappointed

Bought this right after the nasty ice storm in mid-Michigan to make it thru the power outage. Had it running for a little over 24hrs, then it died and could not get it started again. After much troubleshooting (did not call anyone, just played around with it), I found the air filter was basically a block of ice. So I removed and dried it completely, reinstalled, let the generator run for about 30 min, took out the air filter again and ice chunks were already starting to form and wouldve stalled ...

Christmas Eve Nightmare

Ice storm 12/23/13. I bought this to have Christmas at home with my family, drove three hours one way to pick it up drove three hours home to power up my home. Lasted 28 hours.

Great emergency home generator

Purchased after countless power outages. The most recent was two days prior to Christmas with a 5 to 7 day outage projected. We installed a 7500 Watt Transfer switch which enabled us to run entire house with 220 well pump. Ran approximately 14 hours on tank of gas which over five days was a bit costly for fuel but was well worth it. Great features and power at an affordable price

A very reliable generator that is easy to operate and maintain. It will easily run an entire house, unless you heat with electric baseboard heaters. Even then it will operate some of them and the rest of the house too!

User-Friendly Sturdy Product

I have not run the unit in an outage yet, but it started immediately, ran smooth, and the power bar indicator is a great feature, as is the hour meter. Tested the power bar meter with a few power tools and it is sensitive enough that it registers additional startup loads. The unit is incredibly quiet with idle-control engaged, and the overall feel is rugged. Very pleased with a purchase I debated for many months.
