Work Site Power house

I bought this unit to power my roof welding machine...it will run my single ply membrane robot welder and the hand welder with no problem. If we are doing electric screw guns for putting down insulation or metal decking I haven't found the limit. This machine is a work horse. If you're looking for a machine that will run all day and not buck at any load you put on it this is the one.

XT 8,000-Running Watts Portable Generator Generac

Easy to Assemble, easiest starting generator i have ever operated, easy to move, have only used it to power hand tools, purchased it for home back-up but have had an ocassion to use it for that i'm quite sure that it will function properly in that capacity as well.

I recently purchased an XT8000 Portable generator at Lowe's in Lumberton NC. The associates that assisted me were very knowledgeable. We recently lost power for over 36 hrs. The generator was easy to start and maintain. I was very impressed by the generator.

Excellent Quality for all uses

I purchased this generator to run my house when we lose power due to storms and for running a welder out in the field. I needed electric start for my wife to be able to start it when I am not home and we have not be disappointed. Not Happy

I purchased this to replace another generator that had service issues. I wanted one due to the impending blizzard in NJ this year. Well after setting the generator up and starting it up it ran for about 30 seconds then back fired and shut off. took several minutes to get it to restart but when it did it ran full out for about 30 seconds at which point the engine seized. I examined the spark plug and it had been mushroomed from multiple impacts from the piston head. The cylinder must have cracked...

Disappointed...

This is a nice looking generator, and I was excited about the idle-down functionality of this generator. During assembly, I noticed that the cord had been cut/damaged in shipping...I had planned to call the customer service and get it replaced. After putting the oil and gas in the unit, I found that it started fairly easily. Once I turned on the idle down switch, the generator made strange noises and "hunted" for a steady speed. Generally satisfied.

Packaging allowed slightly dented top of gas tank before customer pickup. Assembled quickly per instructions. Plastic grips slide off of handles easily. Hour Meter stopped incrementing after 1.4 hours. I have contacted Generac and am waiting for a response. I would like to be able to start and run engine for warm up at low throttle but unit is designed to start and run at 3600 RPM.

Great generator I purchased it two hour before the power went out for four days. It ran approximately 12 hours on a full tank of fuel. My only complaint is that it should come with a cord that can be plugged into a generator ready reliant switch receptical. I had one from another generator that saved me the hassle of running out during the height of the storm.

A Great Product

We purchased our generator as a customer return and took a gamble. It had 4.5 hours on it, so I knew it at least ran! We discovered during the first run that it would die after about 20-30 minutes. It turned out to be fuel starvation. All I had to do was open the gas tank lid and it would start right up again. So we still have a "problem" there, with a valve not letting air into the gas tank, or a defective gas cap, etc. But we saved $400 from the standard price, and for $400 I can gleefully dri...

This product is more than expected.

Great quality and great value for both the generator and the transfer switch. This will provide power to all the necessities in my home that are needed in the event of a power outage.

Sturdy, good quality, reputable mfgr

I am a professional electrical engineer and have specified this specific portable generator for small city maintenance departments to run small sanitary lift stations during an extended power outage as well as a few plug-in temporary back-up power applications for small buildings. Easy to Set Up, Good Looking

I appreciate the ease to get this generator up and running. The spare maintenance parts were a bonus. And what a good looking unit, I'm proud to haul this around to our job sites.

XT8000 Portable Generac Generator

This unit is all you will need in an emergency situation. Also great for running my welder away from my shop. The reason for the "GOOD" on design is that it would be nice to be able to know if you have a full charge on the battery or not. I can live with the trickle charger that comes with it.

Nice looking unit

Starting up a concession stand and needed a 50 amp plug to run all of my equipment and it does with power to spare. This unit is made well and is quiet for not having a idle down on it. Only have been running it for a week now but it starts first try and runs all day.

Hooked up 2 refrigerators; sump pump; dehumidifier; fan; Large screen TV and dvr; and home office while power was out. Only used 1/3 capacity!
