More than I expected

I picked it up and took it home. I put on the wheels, hooked up the battery, and filled it with oil, then a friend and I lifted it out of my truck. I let the battery charge a couple hours, put in gas, and then it started right up. It comes with extra spark plugs, air filter, oil filter, oil, and the battery tender, which I did not expect to come with it. Bonus! Easy set up. Great buy

Bought the xt8000E at Lowe's on 11/11/13. Easy assembly. Added oil and gas and it fired right up. You have to use the choke even after it has warmed up. Wired the generator up to my breaker panel via back feed directly to breaker panel. Turned off main power to house, fired up the generator and it easily powered my water well pump, furnace, and lights in the house. Cost to wire to the house was $81.00 for 20' of 10/3 wire, a 30 amp breaker, and the twist on plug. Very happy.

Ample power with easy set-up, just a little noisy.

After going through Sandy, i decided it was time for a home back generator. While I have not yet had to use the generator for the purpose intended. The generator appears to provide more then enough power, it was easy to set-up and i had the unit up and running in no time at all. Getting an additional maintenance kit was a plus, it is just a little noisier then i expected.

Good product

The assembly of the generator was pretty straight forward and easy with the exception of putting the oil in the engine. They need to go back to the drawing board on this one. They need to either extend the filling tube and/or move it to the other side. It is at such a flat angle you have to SLOWLY pour in oil or it will back up and run out between the funnel and fill tube. They also need to put in more holes on the dipstick since trying to see new oil on a the dipstick is almost impossible excep...

So far, very good

The quick set-up instructions were very easy to follow and none of the few parts were missing. Once we added the oil and some gas with stabilizer it literally started in 2 seconds with a push of a button. The engine starter battery life can be maintained with a convenient charging port and power cord. Even if the starter battery losses its charge you have a conventional pull cord as back up. This generator is well made, very heavy but easy to move around on the wheels.

Works good

bought this in Aug 2013 for backup when the power goes out. House is wired for an external generator, so I did not use the "monster" 4 outlet cable that came with the unit. I believe that would be good for the work site or shop. Two weeks after I bought it, I got to use it as we lost power. Worked out good, started right up, has a nice big metal gas tank. Only pulled about 2000 watts from it to run the fridge and lights etc for a few hours. Did the job just fine, with plenty of power to spare. G...

So Far So Great

Ive basically started the generac XT 8000E twice so far and ran it for about twenty minutes each time. I purchased as a back up generator for my home in case of power loss. We also had a professional electricain install a 100amp transfer panel in our home. Thank God we havent used it for that yet. Fine unit

Good weight distribution even with a full tank of gas. Very easy to move around. One obvious flaw, the winter/summer control cannot be seen as it's under the gas tank. I spent 10 minutes looking for it, I found it by touch. More than enough power .

Better than expected

2 years ago were I live we had a major power failure with in a day the majority of generators where gone in a 45 mile area around me! Exactly what I was looking for!!

We live near the end of a dead end road in the country so I know we're a low priority in a power outage. Plus we need electric to run the water pump, power the heating system plus all the rest of the household needs. Choke Broke after 8 starts

How does the choke break after only 8 starts. Pretty skimpy on this part.

Very nice generator

This is my first generator that I have owned. I had to rely on borrowing one from somebody else when I would need one. I did quite a bit of research and word of mouth before this purchase. The set up was fairly simple, adding the oil could be a real pain if you do not have the proper funnel. Luckily I did. Hooking up the battery is also a bit tricky. Powerful with great features

Generator would not start

Got everything hooked up by electrician and went to test the manual transfer switch and the generator would not start. For almost 30 minutes we tried everything to get it to fire. Eventually we thought that fuel was not flowing to the engine as the fuel filter looked dry. We took off the gas line hose at the filter and gas start to run out.
