Power was restored before I got to use , but it fired right up and is actually quiet. Have stored on a battery tender til next time , the instructions on the charger that came with it gave no details on charging , so I'm not sure if it was a float charger or not so I wired a Tender in.

This portable is exactly what I needed for Home backup

I live out in a forest, with several fairly short power outages each winter, and sometimes in the summer. I needed an easy to operate portable generator around 10kw for powering up my home, including freezers and our well pump at 220 volts. This unit is compact, reliable, with a number of helpful features that make it easy for me and my family to operate. I was impressed with the reviews for this Generac generator and am happy with the purchase. Time will tell if it lasts the test of time.

No Quality

I am sorry to rant, but I want to share our experience with the purchase of a Generac XT8000E generator that we purchased on 12/01/2017 from Lowes for $1,270.94. Excellent piece of equipment

After being let down by our Coleman during Hurricane Irma, we decided to go with Generac. We are beyond satisfied with this generator. Very solidly built and easy to use.

Just what I needed

Just received my new generator about two weeks ago. perfect timing, I just completed wiring of my transfer switch. I tested last Saturday the 7th. wow I was able to power my 5 ton A/C unit, hot water heater all my lights, fans, computer, and TV. with just over 5000 watts, with plenty of power to spare. All you need

Just received my generator, this is a great generator, had a little bit of trouble starting it for the first time, but might have been fault, may have over choked it. Once started it was great, was able to run over 90 percent of my home. Including my 5 ton A/C, TV, internet, all my lights, ceiling fans, refrigerator. All under 5KW. Saved me in a pinch

This generator was easy to set up (although fastening the battery terminals was not easy at all). I ran two refrigerators, some lights, the oil burner and a few outlets to charge devices, and it didn't even crack the first level on the power bar. I love this thing. Easy to use the choke and fuel valve, but a bit messy to fill with gas - it won't take full flow from a 5 gallon jerrycan without spilling. 5 Stars for power, but 1 Star for noise level

Bought at Lowes in West Jefferson, NC. I have had my 8000 now for around 4-5 years. It is used for personal construction projects in NC mountains where there is no access to rural power at all. It has been kept under a tarp mounted on a small level slab with an 8ft deep ground rod. If the manual is understood and followed it runs very well. The oil can be cumbersome to change so get a good shallow plastic pan. You will need a special spark plug socket and the correct feeler gage for the rocker ...

Review after 3 years of use

Used this generator for two major hurricanes and many other times when power was out. For hurricane IRMA power was out for 8 days and used this continuously, except for fueling. Each tank lasted approximately 12 hours, when running 2 fridges, freezer, well pump, outside lights at night, and all the computers. The alternator on unit is ONLY 30 amps, but produces 8000 watts sustained and 10,000 for surge. For appliances it's AMPS not watts that matter the most. Our central A/C needs 29.5 amps...

Great Generator

Purchased this generator and it's 'working awesomely since November 2, 2017 until present after the emergency of the passing of Hurricane María through Puerto Rico since we have no power still. The setup was easy, is installed to run the whole house, noise is mild would recommend 100%.

This was the top rated and best bang for the buck. In less than a hour it was together and working.

General XT 8000

I needed a generator with electric start as I have a back issue. I did not need the XT 8000 but because they stop making the 6500 with electric start I purchased the next step up. It is a great generator and I trust their products. I do wish that they would re-think about put electric starts on the lower wattage models. In cold weather they can sometime be a problem starting them due the cold especially with back issues.

Piece of cake!

Got a call 1 day before a big storm was to hit here in Massachusetts and went down to pick it up. Went to customer service and was helped immediately, 3 gentlemen helped me load it into my pickup. Assembled the wheels, handle, and instrument cover no problem.I believe it weighs over 200 pounds and with the handles and wheels transports easily. Happy with the product. These are difficult to find right now but were fortunate and bought the display model, so it came already assembled. Still going thru the process of getting it set up and ready to go so cannot speak yet as to its overall effectiveness. Pleased so far.

I've been trying to source a Generac generator for a while but everyone has been on backorder. Lowes in Hadley, MA (Store 1916) came to the rescue and I want to give a shout out for great customer service taking the purchase order over the phone and holding the unit until I could come from Portland, ME to pick it up. --- The unit is solid as one would expect from Generac; the advertised watts are 8kW RUNNING watts, with a 2kW headroom for startup surges. Great Machine

Had a Electrician put in an outlet box outside so that when we lose power, all we have to do is plug it in that box and flip the breakers for the stuff we want on. Ran a test and it worked great! So yay! No more going hours without power!

Ran My House for 6 Days After Hurricane Irma!

I bought my XT8000E generator a year ago just after Hurricane Matthew. This year I upgraded my 200 amp electrical service and put an interlock on the panel that lets me plug the generator circuit directly into the panel.
