Nice product but it dosen't run

Would Recommend

Just put together a new unit. Everything looks great and it went together easily. When I went to start it, it would crank but failed to run, DOA. It is now back for repair, hope it works after. Nice product but questionable Quality Control. Turned out to be rubber and paint in the gasline, blocking fuel.

Great unit

Would Recommend

Prior to purchasing the XG10000E I had read all of the on-line reviews so I was prepared for all of the assembly/set up issues that others had mentioned in their reviews. It took me a total of 45 minutes to set it up and get it running. I wanted a unit large enough to live comfortably when the power goes out and this one fit the bill. Yes, the unit is heavy but you can assemble the unit by yourself while it is on the pallet and swivel it around to get the wheels and front leg installed. I had p...

Great features, but make sure you check a couple things.

This generator saved two refrigerators and a freezer full of food the day after Christmas. Wish I had not contemplated the purchase so long as we lost power on Christmas day.

In Place for Hurricane Sandy

Would Recommend

After being without power for three nights last year, I began looking into a portable vs. standby generator. After all things considered I purchased the XG10,000 watt portable and had the electrician wire the well, boilers and air handling units, septic pump, refrigerator, garage doors and lights, and kitchen lighting and receptacles. Also purchased a small microwave and a Coleman double burner propane stove. When Hurricane Sandy hit, it was six days before city electric was restored. This gener...

Great machine.

Would Recommend

Very pleased with unit. Runs my 3.5 ton Trane heat pump A/C with the well pump and the hot water heater on! With all three devices on and day lights on and 2 ceiling fans running the amp load was right at 30. Will not run all that at once in real world but it did not hesitate in test. Had electrician install a manual InterLockKit with 30 amp double poll breakers. Connect unit to house with a GenTran 25ft. 50 amp, 6/4 cable with CS6364 female and 1450P male plugs.

Capable unit with thoughtful design.

Would Recommend

This unit is a replacement/upgrade for a 5000 watt generator. After the super dericho on June 29th, we had 12 days with no electricity in 90 degree plus tempurature and high humidity. I wanted a generator that could handle most of my house, including heat pump and well pump, without having to play circuit breaker tag. A whole-house standby unit does not fit my general requirements for fuel, etc. From the purpose-built engine to the LED lights these units have a lot of nice features and durabili...

Poor quality control but nice features

Would Not Recommend

I spent over $2000 for what is supposed to be a high end work horse boy am I disappointed. I knew the unit was heavy but putting on the wheels and feet while it sits on the pallet is impossible, it's really a 2 man job just to unpack it. Paper oil funnel it comes with why? Totally useless. It doesn't state anywhere in the manual that I saw if you're using this for home backup you need a 3 pole switch or floating neutral/ground on the house end. Started very easy, it looks nice and weatherproof, ...

don't be fooled-it is a big generator

Would Recommend

It is a big generator, it's heavy. A big bundle of copper wire has to be heavy. In a generator, heavy is good. It means more substance. I think people that complain about the weight have no idea what a back-up generator is. Good that people need help lifting it. If you are not prepared to lug it around then get a smaller gen set or get a back-up generator permanent mount.

POOR QUALITY CONTROL

Would Not Recommend

I am about as angry as a person can be who just dropped $2,000 for a portable generator that doesn't function properly right out of the box! I purchased a Generac based on quality, reputation, and recommendations. Perhaps I'll be pleased once it's functioning properly, but right now I WOULD NOT recommend this product to anyone. To summarize, adding engine oil is challenging unless you have a funnel with a flexible tube. The supplied paper funnel is useless; Make sure you have help unloading if y...

While it doesn't come cheap, this is a terrific unit and will certainly take care of your needs in an outage.

Would Recommend

Purchased this unit shortly after a severe storm in the midwest. While the price was more than I wanted to spend, this was the last unit available given that so many lost power. Set-up was relatively straight forward. The unit is very heavy, so please make sure you have an extra set of hands available. The most challenging aspects of the initial set up were: 1) connecting the battery terminals (small screw/nut in very tight confinement). This is poor engineering, in my opinion. The battery prov...

Ran right out of the box

Would Recommend

Was very impressed with condition at time of shipping and the fact that there were extra spark plugs, air filter and oil filter. We have not put on the wheels. After conntecting the battery and tightening the lock nuts (which was a touch cramped to access), the only other surprising item was filling the bugger with oil. That could use some definite re-design. Added fuel, turned on the fuel line, waited 30 seconds, hit the starter button and after three attempts it fired right up. Remember this i...

outstanding quality

The XG 10,000 was recomended by an electrian. But my personel experience is the ease of access to the outlets. I like the over all style and the ease of use.Its electric start and I like the handle that locks when moving the unit.Very important not to over load any generator, but will more than handle any assential electrical power for the home when an emergency arises.I recommend this highly, for it has ment all my expectations.

XG10000E Generator

Would Recommend

I purchased this generator to provide whole house power during an outage. The feature I liked was the 50A 240VAC outlet, larger than the 30A outlet I saw on most other generators of this size (this generator also has two 30A outlets). As I have a well pump, the extra capacity is well needed. Generator starts and runs well; I haven't performed a full tank test to see how long a tank of gas (10 gallons) will last. The control panel is well laid out, starting was easy, and the panel exterior lighti...

Very Powerful Generator

Would Recommend

Just started using this generator in response to Irene. Changed the oil this morning (after 24 hours running). Have a permanant hookup to the house and a 10 circuit breaker box in the house. Thing runs great. Have it hooked to fridge, boiler (for hot water now; heat in winter), sump pump (very active), the TV and computer plugs and assorted lights. Didn't even start to press the power of this machine. Uses about 5 gallons for every 7 to 8 hours. Easy to full. Oil was easy to change.(should have ...
