This generator arrived in perfect condition. Great packaging and easy to unpack. Assembly of the handle, wheels and rear prop are required. Also the battery hook up and adding oil. Caution (I had to drain some because I rushed the fill and by the time it all settled it was over the fill line) Take your time. Great Generator

Easy to put together. Runs my entire house at normal use. I even have a four ton and a two ton a/c unit.

Good value but the battery for the electric start is an issue

Good value for the money but have had problems keeping the battery charged - without the battery at full power you cannot start the engine.

what a beast !!!!!

this will power everything in the house!!!! combined with a manual transfer switch this is THE way to go!!! it has great balance and easy to move around thought about a stand by system but I can other jobs with this aswell

Great Generator

Generator was delivered on time and I was able to assemble it by myself in spite of it's 400lbs with little trouble. Generator started right up and ran very smoothly. My only complaint was that the bracket that holds the 50 amp cable in does not fit the Generac cable. Without holding the cable in, it will vibrate out. I removed the bracket and was able to secure the plug with cable ties. An easy fix but one that shouldn't have to be done considering how well the rest of the machine is constructe...

Impressive machine

This thing is a beast. I connected to a manual transfer switch with current monitors to watch and balance the connected load. I have run a few tests but haven't had a true outage yet to put it to the test. V-twin 992cc engine runs great and starts easily with the electric start. I did connect a battery tender to trickle charge/monitor the battery. Other than that it comes with everything including a spare tune up kit.

GP17500E

Generator does a great job. I owned one for many many years. I live in the country.We have very hard winters and that means power outages. The outages usually last many many hours.The Generac 17500 provides me peace of mind in a power outage. I don't have too worry about frozen pipes, heat, lights or food going too waste. I wouldn't be without my Generac. My original 17500 is getting old and this new one is the replacement/backup.

Better than I thought.

Needed to go with a larger unit than what I had due to geothermal system. Wanted something to fill up, plug in, and hit transfer switch. This unit gives me ample power for the heat, a/c, well, and the other critical needs. This unit is even better than I thought it would be. It has the ability to power everything in the house with power to spare.

Bought for whole house backup

Great machine for the price, I have this unit set up to feed my house and garage in the event of a power outage. Easy to set up and enough power to do all that I need, rain, snow sleet or shine.

Good basic generator, lacks some features, loud!

There is no voltmeter on the generator to indicate the generator is running at the correct speed to make the rated voltages. The generator is way too loud! It is so loud two people can't understand a word being said if you are very close to it. Muffler seems to be too small for the noise produced. The 50 amp receptacle is on the bottom of the control box. This is a bad place to be because the male plug for it tries to vibrate out. Outstanding Generator

I'm a generator mechanic by trade (military) and I know quality when I see it. I am very impressed with the attention to detail. From the oil drain line to the control panel battery charger to the extra large fuel tank. Very Impressed - A well manufactured machine

I just purchased the GP17500E, Assembly was straight forward (A 2 man job). The over all design of the generator was well thought out, such as the oil fill area is large enough to fill directly, no funnel needed, also the oil drain is a hose, just unscrew the cap and you are draining the oil, couldn't be easier. A really fine product

Ordered my Generac GP17500E after researching on-line and talking with friends who have Generac generators. To my surprise, it was ready for delivery in 1 day. Uncrated and assembled it in about 2 hours (instructions were good but could be more user friendly) and was impressed with the quality of construction. The supplied oil, spare filter, spark plug, etc., were added value. Very pleased with this generator and have recommended Generac to family and friends.

This thing can take the load.

Excellent product. If you want a portable generator that can take just about any kind of load you can throw at it, this is it. It took the load of an electric dryer, a roast in the oven, a load of cloths in the washing machine with lights on in several rooms at the same time. I checked the voltage and frequency under this load with my meter. It was dead on 60 HZ at 242 volts. It didn’t even seem to be working that hard.

Haven't had to use it yet, but it was easy to setup and to start.

Home Backup

I just had the generator wired to my house and the electrician and I ran a test. It ran everything in the house. It won't run the heat pump or furnace, but that's o.k., it will keep us from going to a hotel and the contents of the refrigerator /freezer won't go bad.

Awesome generator. It's super easy to use.

Love this generator. It supplies all the power I need to run essential circuits in my house, and then some. I love the push button start and the start and stopping instructions printed on top of the machine. Cooler yet is the fuel saving auto idle switch and all of the receptacle options. This thing does everything. Finally, while it's a heavy generator, the wheel kit and large handle bar make it easy to move around.
