I love the functionality and features of the device. While moving you see your stats and when you stop moving it automatically switches to mapping view. BRILLIANT COMPUTER!

Great upgrade from 830
I upgraded to the 1040 from an 830 for the bigger screen and the longer battery life, and I've been really happy with it so far (a few hundred miles of gravel and road). Used the Garmin Connect app and it migrated all my profiles and sensors from the 830 to the 1040 seamlessly. I had been squinting a bit to read a 7-item layout on the 830 (I'm in my 50s) but the screen on the 1040 is awesome. Love that I can have my HR and Watts in the bottom of the map page and see them clearly at a glance. The...

Great visibility with routes and Climb Pro!
I had been happy with my Garmin 830, and really thought the added screen space was unnecessary. After seeing 1040 on a couple of my cycling friends, I decided to try rather than 840. The experience is beyond what I expected , especially the Climb Pro feature much more readable!

Terrible
I have upgraded from 1030 plus. I am struggling with everything - including the connection with Garmin Connect. IQ takes forever to get the apps working. My rides are not uploaded to Strava (or at least they are randomly). Pretty bad hardware (the new Garmin Connect app does not help neither)

Easy to use and a must have for training
I didn’t know what the hype was until I got it! Initially I bought if for the GPS and tracking but I’m staying for the workouts and perks!

Miss my 1030
I have done about 10 rides so far and the computer itself is fine but getting use to the differences from the 1030 have been difficult. At the start of every ride when I calibrate my power meter the computer always registers 1863 on my power and average power. I do everything as before with my 1030 and I also try to delete the ride to get rid of that number but it is always there. It stinks since it affects my power numbers for the entire ride. That is just one of the many small annoying differe...

Easy to use and extremely long battery
I have had the 1040 for a little over a month and it’s traveled about 150ish miles. The 1040 is very user friendly and intuitive. It easily sinks with my HR, Cadence and speed sensors. I do enjoy the larger screen as compared to the 840 and it does not have too much glare. I was concerned about glare from some online reviews I viewed, but it’s extremely easy to see and does well in low light or bright sun. I would say the one drawback is the hill assist as it is usually delayed, in that I am...

Best cycling toy I have bought in a long time
The training feed back is great. Radar is really cool. I lead rides and seeing 1000 feet behind us is great

Amazing
Love it has all the features that anyone could need very interactive love using it. Has a new type C charger which increasing charging speed and makes the device user friendly the touch screen also works pretty well when it's wet compared to my old wahoo that doesn't do so well. Love the features on it and has great compatibility with Strava. I am able to upload a route without connecting it to Garmin express 10/10 would recommend.

I can read it
Love the display, I can read it without my glasses. Has different settings for what you wan to see and a map to show you what's coming up.

Terrible maps
I bought this thinking it was an upgrade from my Edge 1030. Boy was I wrong. The map is non-existent. I went back to my 1030 which is easier to use and the map is detailed.

Lots of features
Great bike computer and works as expected. The big screen and being able to zoom in and out of the map is fantastic and being able to see your preferred stats while still viewing the map. My only negative feedback is that the home screen is confusing and setting s are not easy to navigate, if you aren't tech savvy. It takes a while to edit the factory settings to get it set up with what you need. Once you are able to set the filters, its amazing.

After the 1030, it's a much better unit
I have had a 1030 for say 10 years, and finally upgraded. This is a nicer unit, much faster and with a much better screen and speaker, I can actually hear it after many years of silence due to declined hearing. I pair it with my Radars, works very well. Great maps and climbs built into the maps.

Great replacement for my Edge 820
I have had this less than a month, and March has not been much of a month for riding. But I love it. I can read the display (size is helpful for these old eyes). The 820 was just too small, and I think, lower contrast. Could have saved with the downsized 1040 (the 840) but size matters. It also responds to my touch; the 820 did too after several frustrating tries. Cannot wait to try some of the new features. It has so many, that I will surely seldom or never use a number of them (hill cli...

First bike computer - seamless integration
This is my first bike computer after using my iPhone as a (rudimentary) bike computer for some time. I love the edge 1040 and how well it seamlessly synced to my cadence/speed/power/heart sensors. I also use it on my wahookickr v6 and it synced to everything there perfectly as well. I haven’t tried the navigation yet on some routes I’ve downloaded, but I’m looking forward to it.

Garmin Edge 1040
Received a few weeks ago, used on 8 or so rides. The device works great, paired immediately with my bike components (power crank, shifters, derailluer) and my Garmin 515 radar unit (also new with the Edge). The only glitch was on 1 occasion I couldn't get the device to turn on, but as soon as I returned home it worked with out issues, and no issues since.
