I was able to easily transfer the settings from my Edge 530 unit, strap it onto my bike and I was off with all my sensors connected. The touch screen has had great sensitivity on warm and cold rides

Auto Pause Freezes
No problem with first few rides, but yesterday, 30 km into a ride, Garmin 1040 went into pause mode and stopped recording. After about 5 km, I stopped and turned the unit off. When I restarted it, locked into pause mode again. On the third restart, it started recording normally again. This never papered with my Edge 800 or 510. If it happens again, I’m returning it.

Has everything you need and way more.
The Edge has everything you could ask for in a cycling computer. The map integration is seamless, the battery life is outstanding, and it comes packed with far more features than I expected. From navigation to performance tracking, it handles it all effortlessly. If you want a reliable, feature-rich companion for every ride, the Edge 1040 is absolutely worth it.

Nice upgrade
I took a fall and broke the mounting tabs and screen on my 820. It was a good run for 5 years, so figured I'd just get the newer 850. Saw the deal on the 1040 and figured it might be worth it. Out of the box, the screen is brighter, way larger and the new operating system is much easier to work with. Way more features on it, love that it will show me my shifting on my new SRAM Rival AXS gravel set up as well. Haven't dug too much into all the info it generates, but the better GPS is noticeable o...

Garmin Quality at a Great Price
I came from the 1030 Edge, which was somewhat problematic as far as connectivity and syncing activities and routes, but this one seems to be much better. Display appears to be a bit more visible in sunlight, and battery is better. It's easy to use, but I do wish the touchscreens were a little better in wet weather - totally usable, but I have to lock it when it's wet.

First GPS Bike Computer
I have been using my Fenix watch as a bike computer but this takes it to a very different level. Easy to read while riding and the amount of information is amazing; After a week in Moab I am a convert now and will use a full display going foward!

Improved accuracy and battery life
Moved up from an edge 530. All the features like 3-second power, gradient, temperature, are more fast in responsive and accuracy. Bigger data font is simple on the eyes to scan while working hard. Battery life is excellent.

4th edge
This edge's software has me looking at different things. When I was contemplating, I didn't realize how much of a difference a newer version would be. Glad I went ahead and purchased.

Some good features
My Edge 1040 is great when it syncs. Often I can’t get it to sync with my iPhone at tge start of my ride so I miss being able to collect distance or average data. It does sync with my Varia radar and my Garmin cadence sensor. Yes, I’ve troubleshooted it following steps online. I’m disappointed considering the cost. Be aware it won’t work with an Apple Watch for fitness data.

Ok I love this thing
Huge upgrade from the non-touchscreen cycling computers. Easy to use, great connectivity, takes my RideWithGPS and Strava routes easily. If you're in the Garmin Ecosystem and don't have the touchscreen computer, highly recommended.

Love the Gamin Edge 1040
I had a wahoo for a few years. Sorry it took this long to switch to Garmin. When someone said it cost more than wahoo for a reason they weren't lying. Love the interface, big numbers on screen, everything about it.

Great features and details
I have had the product for about 3 weeks and have gone on about 12 rides so far. Very impressed with the battery life, screen display, and the features. I upgraded from an Edge 1000 so there are many new features with the Edge 1040. I really enjoy the Climb Pro feature so you can figure out how much effort to put in and how much longer you need to suffer. I cannot wait to try the WO mode on the trainer during the Winter months that I won't be outside.
