This is a great tool to use while riding. The size and clarity of the display is excellent. Also, the ability to configure multiple pages is fantastic. I use it on every ride and have 6 or 7 screens setup based on the bike I am using.

Could be Better
After 3 years of purchase battery seems to drain faster and recharge time takes a long time considering other Garmin products do not. Recently, the audio alerts for heart rate, speed/pace and navigation turn audio prompts do not work. Support has escalated the issue with a diagnostic log to no avail. Support in the past has been good, but this one is lagging. I sometimes question updates that seem to break something and fixed with a future update. Otherwise, the Edge 1040 works well.

Edge 1040 is an amazing cycling computer
Edge 1040 is a great cycling computer - amazing battery life! Great features.

Great display size, but quirky connectivity
I really like the edge 1040. The display size is great to see all the data at a glance. The primary issue I have with any garmin device is the awkward blue tooth connectivity, sometime you have to remove a devise and re-add it for the garmin to recognize it and connect.

Big Screen. Lots of Data
Large easy to read screen. GPS acquires quickly, sensors recognized quickly and easily.

I had many Garmin over the past 15 years, this one is faster, brighter, and longer battery life anything I’ve had to this point. They just keep getting better. I have previously owned the 540, 840, 1040, and 850. I do like this for the best, but it is big, and it’s probably not the best for mountain biking.

first bike computer....i'm sold
i wasn't sure i was going to want to use one of these but its pretty fantastic. UI isn't the most intuitive (for me), but not a burden to figure out. battery life seems really good, I would say probably at least 3 FULL days of riding, which my backside certainly cannot do.

Complicated.
The Garmin Edge 1040 is very easy to install on the bike. However it is not so easy to use. It is probably extraordinarily good for those who want to have a training regime, but if you’re looking for something that will help you just find the trail that you’re on and measure your distance your altitude gain and the simple biking things that you might want this may not be the instrument that best fit fits your needs. I bought it because it fit with the radar/tail light that I have and I know that...

Help with my Garmin
I had call3ed and ask for help with my Garmin Edge. The battery was running low all the time and won't last through a 50 mile ride. The woman I spoke with was very helpful in changing the settings which has completely fixed the problem. I'm on my 4th ride without a charge where as I barely made one before. Thx for the help.

Not too big
I was originally worried that this computer would just be too big but now I love it. The touch screen is fantastic though when it's cold and I have fingertip gloves on it doesn't register consistently. I'm better able to read texts without my cheaters.

Awesome Bike Computer
My Edge 1000 recently broke, so I have been deciding between the 840, 1040 and 1050. The 1040 seemed to be more than adequate for the job. I couldn't see spending the extra cash for the 1050. But is was a tough decision between the 840 and 1040. I think the fact that I owned an Edge 1000 had me leaning more towards the 1040. With black Friday deals and Christmas time deals I had great prices for both the 840 and 1040. In the end I went with the 1040. I have only used the 1040 for MTB so far. It ...

Edge1040
Recently purchased this as I needed a new bike computer. I’ve only been using it a couple of weeks now. So far, I’m very happy with it. The screen is big, clear and easy to adjust.

Should have bought sooner...
I wish I would have upgraded to this earlier. I love the size of the screen and the set options. Easy set up and way more functions than I'll use, but what I have used works perfect.
